I would prefer the wine. I eat so much at weddings that I might not want the pie right away - the wine would keep. Logistically, the wine might be easier for you to get ahead of time and store until the wedding too.

I like both ideas.
Wine is a good idea, but the pies are so different..but, I guess I would worry about the freshness of them as well...hmmm.. sorry I'm no help..

I think wine would be more popular - as others said, I'd be too afraid the pies would spoil - or if its only a couple they wouldn't eat it and a lot would go to waste. I think I just said my couple friends would be drinking a whole bottle of wine themselves! But you know what I mean.

edited to note: I hate wine, so my opinion shouldn't really count. If I got wine at a wedding, I'd either leave it or give it to someone else to take. but pie. mmmmm pie is always good!
