To save all your money and pay off everything after, or to keep track and pay it bit by bit? I am thinking that the saving the huge sums is too overwhelming and defeating, and that since I have so much time, it might be beneficial to pay vendors month by month. Any suggestions?

i would only pay bit by bit on the vendors that have been around for a longer time
pay as much as you can before hand...those last payments are hard enough with payments...I can't imagine them without paying anything

We opened up a savings account just for the wedding we make a 'payments' to the savings account. We will pay one lump sum though in the end but the 'payments' keeps us in check and on track.

Soon2bemrs...I was thinking of doing the same thing. 'paying' the money to my savings account once I book everything. I am nervous about losing money, and well, I much rather have to scramble to get money near the end to pay than to have someone go out of business and not have any service for all that dough! Thanks ladies!

Re: Which is a better idea?......
We just stuck to the payment plans that vendors gave us. Although, our hall said that we could pay it all right before the wedding, i made up a plan myself that worked for us and in the end, they wound up owing us money.
People like the dj and limos gave us a set plan and we owed the balance the day of so we just kept saving the same amount of money and it worked out well. Paying everything off in the end is a huge things to be on your shoulders...imo.

We paid by the payment plans & paid when they were due. Also by paying when they were due & not before, we made interest off our money in the bank

We have a schedule for all the payments. As each becomes due we will pay it. All the final payments are due within 10 days of each other.

Re: Which is a better idea?......
for the vendors that asked for it, we are following their payment plans
for the other vendors, we are creating our own payment plan and keeping a budgeted amount aside each week so we know we have enough $ to pay for the lump sum at the end
