You can't change it to your married name on your passport until you have your marriage certificate, so if you renew it, it will have to be in your maiden name.

You need to use your maiden name until your name is legally changed.

Oy! We just went thru this this afternoon. We are going on our honeymoon in July to Tahiti, so we got our marriage license last week, but I cannot change anything becuase it will be cutting it too close to getting the pasport back in time to leave the country and have all documents match.( Drivers license, etc.) Keep it in your madien name and then after things have calmed down then change everytbing.We were advised by the airlines to carry a original copy of our marriage license just in case. Hope this helps.

If your honeymoon is not right after the wedding and you have some time, once you get your marriage license, you can go into the city with the airline ticket and you can get your passport on the same day especially if you go about 4 to 5 days before traveling. And if you are traveling like two days before the date of the airline ticket, you get your passport with your new married name right on the spot.

For your honeymoon you should book it under your current name so you dont have problems with airfare with out proper id.

I agree that you're going to have to renew it with your maiden name. But, be sure your airline tickets are in the same name as your passport if you are using it as your ID when you fly.

Your maiden name you are not married so legally you cannot use your married name on your passport. I just renewed mine last month in person in the city. Costly for expedited service but since 9/11 I did not trust mailing it in, besides I have visas from other foreign countries I have visited. PS - book your trip under your maiden name or you will have hell at the airports, none of your documents will match and you will have to travel with your original marriage certificate - God forbid if you lose it or destroy it by accident.
