Which news source do you believe in?

Which news source do you believe in?

Alot of people have expressed their dissatisfaction with varying news sources, stating that they feel certain sources are biased, unbalanced, etc. Where do you get your news from and why do you accept it as newsworthy?

I listen to NPR/WNYC and watch the BBC News and Meet the Press. I read the New York Times, Salon.com and will check out CNN.com daily. On Sundays my DH and I will read the Sunday Newsday. I will also read the London Times and Washington Post on occasion.

I like NPR. I also like the Lehrer News Hour and BBC. I really can't stomach the 24 hour news channels, everything is so sensationalistic on them. They're all about the ratings and I think that's detrimental to their news coverage.

I don't trust any of them. They all only report the story in the way that they want you to see it.

I can understand your feeling, what with all the sensationalist news out there. But how do you stay informed?

Yes, I listen to and read various forms of media to hear what's going on in the world and then I form my own opinion. I'll listen to talk shows on the radio, I'll watch the regular news channels, I'll watch the 24 hour news shows and I'll read different papers. Then I form my own opinion on what the truth is.

I listen to anything from outside the country - mostly BBC and some underground papers on the net.

Anything from within the US is propoganda - call me paranoid, but I don't believe I am being told the truth. How can I....?

ETA: I do still listen to other sources - all of the above stated (except FOX News) but I don't take it in as 'truth' - like others, I form my own opinions after discussing and talking it out with others (mostly FH)

any lefties out there interested in a good piece? Watcha small documentary called OUTFOXED - awesome expose on The Fox News Network and interviews with people who have worked there and quit - fascinating what people in this country consider 'news' just because it came from a talking head on the TV!

but everytime i talk to my mom she tells me something and im like um whose ur source and she tells me oh i heard it on z100 lmao..yeah cause thats reliable!!! shes too cute lol

Like my dh telling me Nick is leaving Jessica. me- 'ok where did you hear that?' him- 'from so and so at work. They heard it on the radio' me- 'Yeah I believe that then'
(most likely KTU or Z100).

CNN, MSNBC, the NY Times, the BBC and Haaretz Daily (an Israeli paper).

I try to gather from all sources and then form my opinion....

honestly there is an air of opinion that is broadcasted on the main stations like NBC, CBS etc..even CNN.

I like CSPAN becasue you can see politicians and their ideas is their entirety and not edited versions which as we all know can make things appear different than they may be.
