Ok, so next on my list besides trying on dresses, is photog. I have absolutely NO idea what kind of budget to set for us!! I'm not sure what prices are high/low!!!!! Nada!!
I do know that I want photo-journalistic pics, much like everyone on LIW! Any help girls...I always appreciate it!

Would you mind FMing me any prices you got for Patken? I'm going to be making appts but want to get a sense of what im getting into !!! I also have no idea but know I'm going to have a tough time explaining the prices to FH!!! I told him they start at approx 2K and he was like ' for a picture book'......it's gonna be fun!!!!

Hmm, it's tough. I think first you should weigh out which vendors are most important to you. Then budget accordingly. For us, we decided that photography was most important (after RH). So our budget for photography was far more than what I would have spent if it wasn't as important. Does that make sense?
Like, for instance....flowers. I find them (for me), the least important vendor. So I am only budgeting $1,000 which is very little (from what I've seen from other brides!). But I justified it because I'm spending a ton more on photography....
It all depends on your preferences/whats most important to you. Because chances are you'll find someone within your budget....

Norm i would say is $4,000-9000 (but can get alot higher after enlargements, albums and whatever else)...You can get less expensive packages from $1500-3000. But with that you don't get some things as you would with the others obviously...Also alot of people don't know from ahead of time how expensive albums are. Anywhere from $1200-2000 and ive heard even higher.

ugh please I got an e-mail from some photographer I had asked about price quotes (not from this website, from a wedding book my mom got me) and he wanted $20,000!! After I stopped laughing, I told him no thank you.

Yeah i've looked up photographers from alot of the books and magazines, alot of them are like celebrity photographers and will charge that much which is crazy...And can i tell you that i didn't like alot of their work...Even some that i thought were nice was like hmmm ok nothing special though and def not worth that money

I only saw Velvet. I can FM you the package and price that i got from them. However, before I booked with them I called every vendor on LIWeddings and NYCity Weddings, for a basic starting package I saw that they ranged from 2000-5000 and thats not always including albums.

ok not that i'm the photographer expert because I am SO FAR from that so definitely double check what I am telling you but I think it only includes albums if they say it does in the package, some do, some don't

photography is my most important vendor so i have done a bunch of research....for those girls who want photojournalistic style photos, you should definitly check out the WPJA (wedding photo jouralist association) You can search by area and alot of the photographers on there are amazing and very reasonably priced. I am choosing between photographers I found on thier site.

The photographer will tell you their price and then give you many different album options and show you the price for the albums...So the price they give you is usually for their service, proofs, if they give you a cd, and usually an engagement shoot. Unless you pick your albums then and there and they'll include that in the price...Many people don't pick out their albums until later on anyways. But when you see a quote it is usually without the albums

not all the time. If you ask what their basic package starts at, most of the time it doesnt include albums.

Well for most of them you put a down payment, and then you will have like 3-4 payments left until your wedding.
Okay that's sorta what i thought .....I guess that's better so you don't have to pay so much up front and can save for later - hopefully!!!!!

We went with Artisan photography. They impressed us the most and were not too far out of our budgetr. If you would like more info on them, FM me.

not all the time. If you ask what their basic package starts at, most of the time it doesnt include albums.
I definitely agree. I have been to more than ten photographers and i know that some of them have packages including 60 picture album. I finally chose Velvet. I think that the work he does, combined with the two photographers and what else you get is such a great deal. I am happy with him and as Bob has said all the photographers can do the same picture editing and digital albums its the moments that they capture that counts the most.
