Which quote do you like better?

Which quote do you like better?

I want to put a quote in my bridal shower guest book. Which do you like best?

A happy marriage perhaps represents the ideal of human relationship -- a setting in which each partner, while acknowledging the need of the other, feels free to be what he or she by nature is; a relationship in which instinct as well as intellect can find expression; in which giving and taking are equal; in which each accepts the other, and I confronts Thou.

or

Marriage is that relation between man and woman in which the independence is equal, the dependence mutual, and the obligation reciprocal.

I am torn..but I like the happy marriage one.

I like that the second one is short but I like the first quote better.

I like the brevity of quote two but it sounds very 'business' like to me...truthfully i might keep looking..sorry!

Here are 2 others:

A happy marriage has in it all the pleasures of friendships, all the enjoyment of sense and reason - and indeed all the sweets of life.

or

You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly.

YES! Much better

I love them both. I would go with the second one, that one made me think of my own FH and smile.

Re: Which quote do you like better?

In the end I went with:

'The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom, church or synagogue. It's a choice you make, not just on your wedding day, but over and over again in your life together'

This is something we both believe in and is true to us.
