Which reception hall is better?

Which reception hall is better?

Without naming either place which catering hall sounds better:

A - 30 min drive from church. Gorgeous cocktail hour and ballroom. Scenic view of rolling hills from the ballroom. Outside (first impression) very dull and plain. No landscaping in the front. Has a very nice hotel next door. $89pp

B - 1 hr + drive from church. Newly rennovated. Everything is brand new. VERY small but beautiful cocktail hour room that will include an outside terrace (october wedding might be chilly). Ballroom is also gorgeous. Outside (first impression) is landscaped and has a pleasant appearance. Scenic view of lake on golf course. $75pp

Im torn between the two. Please consider EVERY factor, and ladies (and the few gents) I want honest opinions, because Im really torn on this one!!! If you guess which catering halls they are, please do not mention them as I am trying to get the unbiased opinion here. Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help!!

Have you tasted the food at either one? People will remember the food at a wedding...not what color the ballroom was. How long are people going to be outside admiring the hall....I would guess about 5 minutes, while they park their car. But, they are going to spend 5 hours inside...so which is nicer? I wouldn't factor in the distance in the equation...this is a big life changing event...people will travel to be with you on your special day.

Which one did you walk into and say 'this is it'.

I am presuming both places have a good reputation as far as service & food.

I would probably go for the first hall.

Being closer is convenient for you and your guests.

The outside doesn't matter since you will be inside.

The price is a consideration though - is the $14 difference in the menu fair?

I think choice A sounds better. It is more convenient in terms of where your church is located, and although you said the exterior isn't landscaped to your liking, you sounded more pleased with the interior settings of Choice A. In my opinion, the majority of your party is spent indoors so therefore the indoor apprearances are more important to consider than exterior appearances (what if it rains and you are stuck in the VERY small cocktail hour room at Choice B)! Hope this helped!!! Good luck with your decision!!

dpends on your budget on wedding
if price is no concern...option A

the distance thing, people will get over it rather quickly once they are inside enjoying the night w/ family and friends. Option B is nice beucase it's an option...

If its at night, then don't worry about the outside. Even if its not, how long are you outside, as logn as oyu have someplace else to take pictures.
I think the second one sounds better, esp. b/c of the price, but it doesn't sound so much better that its worth the hour , unless you are going to have time to kill anyway, due to scheduling.

I think 1+ from the church is too far. JMO but I would not asks my guests to drive that, taking into consideration that they have to travel from their home to first get to the church.

I think option A as well but are you going to tell us what two places these are???
Help us out, I'm still searching as well. I decided not to put my deposit down on Villa Lombardis just yet.

October isn't that cold, you should be fine using the terrace.

An hour drive is long, and you might end up having many people skip the church, and head right there. All people who care about you like family I'm sure will make the trip.

You'd get your limo's worth!

I agree on all points.

I would say number 1.

That was why we went with the Imperial Manor over Bellport CC, we got an amazing deal from Bellport. My MOH's family owns it but Dh's family was already travelling from Philly to St. Kilian's (Farmingdale) for our mass. I wasn't going to make their trip any longer.

Plus they were able to hang close to the hotel (huntingtion hilton (don't recommend) in case they wanted to catch the shuttle we got to take them back and forth to the reception and hotel.

I say go for option 1. So what if the outside isnt as 'WOW'. What good is the outside being wow, if the inside is bla.

Distance sounds better too!!

Good LUck! and once you decide...tell us which halls ur referring too..

Re: Which reception hall is better?

I would say #2 if the price difference is not gonna break your bank. sounds a bit nicer overall (and newer). I am assuming food and service is good at both. The outside area of #2 sounds nice (what if you have a nice warm day in october (hey it could happen)! and you wish people could go outside?), but I wouldn't let that factor in too much.

I wouldn't factor in the distance so much into your decision...the difference between 30 min and 1 hr is nothing (now if we were talking 1.5hrs. that's a big difference!)
Hope this helps!

I think that #1 is better... 30 mins. does make a difference to people especially if they have driven a distance in the first place

i would go with number 1.. being closer makes it alot easier traveling to, and from the place..

i picked my hall that looked plain on the outside, but pretty inside which is all that matters since thats where ill be spending my time
