Which 'rules' are you breaking?

Which 'rules' are you breaking?

Either your own, or traditional?

I said a lot of things about my wedding initially that have changed.

I first said I would not do it on a Sunday, here it is, on a Sunday, but it worked out because it's our 12 year anniversary.

I said I didn't want to spend more than $X per head. Now my RH is costing more than my initial (naive) total budget.

I said I wouldn't spend a lot on invitations. I wanted to make my own. Nope. Custom designed with ribbon and rhinestones.

WHY are all of these things COSTING me money? I want to break a rule to save money! Oh well, practically everyone in my fam does a VH, which I'm not doing because it's a Sunday and I'm afraid a portion of the guests will leave early so it'll be wasted, plus there is already soooo much food.

I did the same thing with invitations - I said I was DIYing and budgeted like $100, and here I am $800 later, with custom made invitations.

And also, I said I would get married on a Saturday and my bubble was burst when I realized how much more per person that would cost, so here we are with a Friday wedding

Everything about my wedding is a broken rule ... I had a previous wedding called off a few weeks before it was to take place 2 1/2 years ago by my ex fiances mother so I said next time its town hall because I lost my share of the last wedding. But my current fiance wanted a wedding and he wasn't the last guy so I didn't want to take it away from him Then I wanted to spend no more then 20k total for everything (rings dress hall church everything) now we are on our way tripling it

I said that I ABSOLUTELY did not want to see FH before the ceremony.... now we're taking pics before the ceremony.

I also said I wasn't going to pay more than $100 pp. after tax/grat..... that was thrown out the window too!

Just getting married broke a rule!!!! Having a 'real' wedding at 40 is another. We planned a destination for 3 of us which was then dinner for immediate family which is now a ballgown, a beautiful venue and a guest list of 120

the only thing that we went over what we initially thought we would spend was the DJ but it's for the best. They are the ones that are going to keep the party going and we'd rather spend the extra there.
