I love winter, that is why that is a choice - i would use a lot of snowflakes
for the 4 seasons of love - i would do summer flowers outside, spring flowers in the yellow room, and leaves int he library - i would also place pictures of us in those times of year - the ballroom would still be winter
the last was what i thought of when i thought of Bourne -just decorating simply and letting the beauty shine through - use just candlobras and rose petals on the taple -with red napkins - colors leading to are red, silver, and white

Re: which theme
I like the last, only because of the date of your wedding, the winter theme doesnt fit at all...I like the idea of the second but again a winter themed ballroom seems strange that time of year.

Re: which theme
Even though your wedding is in August, if you love winter, it is not such a far stretch...No matter what the weather is outside, I believe your wedding is about the person you are! I am getting married in March & I am going to be using fall colors...This is the type of person I am...
Don't let a date fool you...Trust me, if you do a winter themed wedding, you truly will be unique & that stays in people's minds

Re: which theme
I like the 4 seasons idea... but I haven't seen the Bourne (in person).
I like making the seasons flow with the movement of your guests... but I don't think I would end with a winter theme. My favorite time of year is Fall... more colors than spring even!! But that's me!!
Good luck with your choice!

Re: which theme
i would go with one of the other choices... they seem appropriate where the winter theme doesn't really go with your date
although that would be unlike any wedding i have been too... i think it is kind of neat

Re: which theme
I say go with the winter OR the 4-season themes! Make your day unique and do something different! If that's what you're dreaming about, go for it! Who cares what people think?!

Re: which theme
My vote is for the last one as well. Here is why:
1. Your getting married in August and it just doesn't go too well. Although if you really want it that much....go for it
2. The four seasons one may not really hit people. They might just think it is a mix! You know what I mean?
Go with whatever you really have the most ideas for. There are no laws or rules, anything goes these days. Good Luck!

Re: which theme
i liek the 4 seasons if you can do it bold enough that peopel get it.
It is very unique & ties winter which you love into summer, which is when your weddign is. it will make the winter theme seem less random.
and as for the wintery ballroom- peopel will love it--when its hot, a lot of people wish for snow!

Re: which theme
I think the winter theme is a great idea! If you play up the aspect that you're doing say 'A Snowflake Ball in August', I think it would be a refreshing change for people. I've been to many Christmas in July parties. Sure, they aren't weddings, but I don't think it makes a difference. The Bourne lends itself so beautifully to a winter theme, that if that's what your heart is set on, I say go for it! As a former event planner, I've seen a ton of very unique and different party ideas come to life that people thought were not 'right' or 'normal'...they were huge successes!!! I really think in this day and age, anything goes ....cetainly as far as events go. Your wedding is an expression of you...if you want a winter wedding in August... do it! If you commit fully to the theme, people will love it. And if they don't, who cares??? It's YOUR day!
If it's one thing I am learning throught this whole wedding planning thing, it's that you are never going to please everyone. Someone is always going to think you're doing something wrong, your ideas are stupid, you're spending to much $$$ etc.... the list goes on. The most important thing is that you and FH are happy!
Just the opinion of a bride fighting the daily battle of 'It's our wedding, and we're going to . We're sorry if you don't like it.' FH and I are committed to making this the day we envison, not the day our parents would like us to have....(especially since we're paying for it!!!)
Ok, off of the soapbox now. Geez, I wrote more in that post than I have in all my others combined!!!

I really like the 4 seasons idea if you can play it up enough so that people get it. Maybe work it into your invites or something! :o)

Re: which theme
being that august is so opposite of winter i probably wouldnt do a winter theme, but a four seasons them would be very nice(and you could place more emphasis on the winter)...
fh and i LOVE winter so i might try and incorporate a little bit into it...

Re: which theme
I think that with an August wedding a winter theme overall would be out of place. I'd choose something more summery. If you do four seasons, I would not have winter be the reception room, b/c that is where people will spend most of their time and winter would just seem a little 'off' in August. JMO - I'm sure it will be beautiful either way.
Just a question, why did you choose August if you love winter? August is also more expensive than winter...

Re: which theme
I did not choose summer, my FI choose summer - we have a lot of out of town guests and did not want to make it hard for them to get to long island - about half are OOT - plus i am in school all winter - and this is when we will get to live together
But everyone that knows me knows my obsession with winter especially snowflakes - my honeymoon will be to NZ or Chili where we can ski

Re: which theme
It sounds like you have your heart set on a winter theme, go for it... I love the Bourne for what it is without a lot of extra 'stuff', that is just my opinion, so i chose choice 3.

Re: which theme
If you want a winter theme, you should have it! But I would definitely start the theme in people's minds as early as possible. Put snowflakes on your STD and your invites, for example.
