So my engagment ring is almost exactly like the one below. It has diamonds almost all the way around, but I asked them to put only platinum on the bottom b/c I'm rough on my hands. My FH thinks I should get the eternity band b/c it'll match my ering best, but I really like both of them. Which do you like better?
I like the look of the eternity band better. HOWEVER, I find them to be very impractical. Why would I want diamonds on the inside of my hand? It would get damaged very easily...and nobody can see diamonds on the inside!
I'm going with a 5-stone ring because it covers the entire top of my finger, so it has the same look as an eternity band. It's a lot more comfortable and practical for everyday wear. (Not to mention less expensive!) Plus, you can resize it easily because of the platinum band around the back.

I totally hear you and initially that was the kind of wedding band I wanted before I'd picked my ering setting. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the 5-stone rings don't match up w/my ering b/c my ering is an eternity band where they just made one of the center stones set up higher and larger & I had them customize it to remove about 3 stones on the bottom & just put platinum. So my ering has 5-.2ct stones on each side so the 5-stone wedding bands don't match up properly. I've thought about having them remove a couple of stones on the eternity wedding band too to match the setting, but since your wedding bands spins I would have to constantly be moving it back into place so I decided against it.

Can you get 2 wedding bands? The beautiful eternity band that you will wear on special occasions and then maybe a simpler platinum ring for every day use? That's what I plan on doing.

I'd love to get both actually and have spoken to my FH about maybe getting the eternity band now, and the second one as a 1year anniversary gift. My only concern is that it's kinda pricey since the eternity band is about $10k-$11k and the lace band w/diamonds on the side is about $8k so is that crazy? LOL Maybe I'll wait until my 5-year anniversary, lol?

To be honest, I'm genuinely torn. I do LOVE the diamond eternity band and it looks crazy w/my ering but that's kind of a double edged sword since I work in the city. My center stone on my ering is pretty big so plus the 5-.2 ct stones on each side and it's kind of a flashy ring on it's own. When ppl 'ooh-ahh' over it, I love it (what girl doesn't?). I do however now have to think twice about where I go, what I do & when to wear it, you know? So now add to that a flashy wedding band and you have a baubble of a set, and it does make me a little nervous to wear that everyday together, you know? That was another reason I was thinking of making the bottom of the eternity band just platinum (so I could turn it around to look plain at times). I do also really like the understated look of the other one for everyday. It's very stylish w/out being over the top, but my FH doesn't like it b/c he thinks my wedding band should match. Ohhhh I'm so confused. I feel like a dog chasing it's tail.

my friend just got married and has almost the same engagement ring - diamonds almost all the way around but platinum on the inside. she has the eternity band and it looks incredible together - i say go with the eternity band
also, the eternity bands looks exactly like mine! so i might be partial

p.s. my moh's wedding band doesn't have diamonds all the way around and she told me that she wishes she went for it. it moves around and she has to adjust it all the time. an e-ring has a 'top' so it's not an issue if the diamonds aren't all the way around.

Yeah, that's what my jeweler warned me would happen. I've even seen that now w/my ering and it fits properly, but it does spin. The only difference is that it can't spin past my finger b/c the center stone stops it when it hits either my pinky or middle finger. I just thought maybe making it plain might help when I want to be less noticable, lol.

My band is going to be an eternity band set in platinum. The tiffany lady said not to worry about banging it underneath because your hand is indented there. She said unless you press your palm flat it doesnt hit. Your more likely to hit the top of your hand.

I like the lace band with side diamonds, because it's different. I'm not a big fan of eternity bands like that, I prefer where the diamonds are either side set like the second, or just the top of the band.

I'd go with the eternity band, that's what my brother got for my SIL and she thought it was impractical and would be uncomfortable, but the higher quality bands are made comfortable and she has had it for over 2 years and hasn't damaged it at all. JMO

My setting is similar to yours and I got an eternity band for my wedding band.....it matches perfectly!!!!! Go for the eternity band!!!

Wow! Whats the carat weight on the eternity band? I looked at a few but I want I guess, smaller stones so mine were like 3k.
But the one with them on the sides, they look small, thats why I'm curious as to why it was so much?
