for a main entree: Filet Mignon or Chateubriand? I can't decide which to have at my reception, and I don't really know what the difference is.

Re: Which would you choose
If you want my honest opinion, ALWAYS go for the filet mignon.. not that the chateaubriand isn't good.. but the filet migon holds up a lot better.. being that the CB has to be sliced, and it's prepared before it's actually put out, it won't look as appetizing when it gets to the guests..

I had the Chateau Briand- It was perfectly fine- not dry- juicy, etc. It depends on the place.

I agree with Sassy as well. only because Coral House serves an excellent CB.
Taste both and make your decision.

Re: Which would you choose
I happen to LOVE CB, but I would go for the Filet only b/c I would be worried about presentation as well.....

Thanks for all of the responses - Has anyone had the CB at North Ritz Club?

Re: Which would you choose
I think with most facilities the presentation is standard no matter what you order- I used to work at a catering hall- everything was served up the same way- this is true unless you go with a hall that serves different sides with each entree choice (i.e. when I got married all 3 entree choices were served with different starch & veggie and were all served up differently). I like Chateau Briand because since it is cooked before hand it can be cooked slower - I also find that it's more tender. When we had it at our wedding we cut it with the back of our forks.
I have heard nothing but great things about North Ritz- I think no matter what you choose it will look and taste amazing- no worries.

Re: Which would you choose
Actually, Sassy, I think you (editted to change word confused) misinterpreted what I mean as presentation.. I'm refering to what the meat looks like, not the taste or what it comes with.. FH's family runs a catering business and I can tell you first hand that the CB although very tender and delish, it falls apart and doesn't *look* good... you don't want to serve your guests a plate with a slimy looking peice of meat.. that's all I'm saying..
