I cannot decide on a theme for my wedding. My date is October 7th. Ceremony is outside. Should I do a deep red theme or a fall theme? As a guest, which one do you think you would enjoy more?

I voted for the deep red theme simply because my theme is also red

I love, love the deep red idea, but your wedding is in the Fall so you may want to do Fall theme. I'm doing deep red b/c my wedding is in Spring and I wanted to do romantic since it's a late night wedding. If ours was in the Fall I love the look of Fall colors... leaves and pumpkins. I was actually at a wedding in the Fall in Oct and the table #'s were Pumpkins carved out with the table # and a little candle in it. Sooo cool!

From a practical standpoint, which goes better with your hall? If the room is all cool colors (blue, white, grey), maybe stick with red. If it's beige and gold, with windows looking out to trees, maybe fall is better?

Good point.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why do you have to have a 'theme?' I don't have a theme. I have colors, but no 'theme.' Why can't you have red dresses on the attendants, and some fall decorations? Red is a fall color, especially if it's a deeper, more garnet red. This way you can do what you want, get whatever decorations you want, without having to fit them into some preconceived 'theme.'

I say go with WHY you are picking the theme. When you chose your wedding date, what was the signifigance? If it was b/c fall is your favorite season.....go with fall! If you just picked it for no special reason, then go with the red! Both are gorgeous.

I didn't neccessarily need a 'theme' but I am a freak about everything matching, so I thought if I picked a theme, everything would go together. The more I think about it, the more I am thinking about doing everything with 'red leaves.' LOL!

I love the Fall. We are doing a Fall theme. We are using Wine, Orange, Deep Reds, and Yellow colors. And we decorated our bubbles and OOT bags with leaves. (Pics in Albums) I love all the diff colors of Fall
Good Luck choosing your colors

I'm the other way--I'm afraid to have everything be too matchy-matchy, because then it might look like I styled my wedding at Party City, If you know what I mean. Everything should 'go' together, obviously, and tone together, but I don't like it if everything matches--fall leaves on the invites, and on the cake, and in all the floral arrangements, and on the gobo, and the clothes and linens in the same colors as the leaves, and leaves leaves leaves leaves... I've seen people do that with seashells at beach weddings and it looks too much, to me. For a fall theme, you could choose some classic fall colors like deep red, brown, gold, hunter green, and mix them. Have the attendants in red dresses, but have the invites in gold with green accents. And use an acorn sometimes as an icon, not just the leaves. What else? Sheaves of wheat--I saw the most gorgeous CPs in an old Martha Stewart Weddings where they put a perfectly twisted bunch of dried wheat stalks in the center of the table. Looked FAB. I can try to find it...

I LOVE the fall theme! There are so many gorgeous colors and so many things you can do. I think everyone will enjoy all the themes equally

Re: Which would you choose??? w/ poll.
I can't do pictures here at work, but how about this wreath:
I know I might be an out -of-chorus voice, but I think by October people and also you could be a little tired af red which is very fashionable for weddings in this period, but going through wedding magazines and exhibitions here in Italy all you see is red.
As for fall related themes, I do not like them a lot either. I like leaves and the colors of fall, but I also think you might be willing to remeber your wedding as something different from a Halloween party. So if the choice is between the two, I would prefer the fall theme without making it too heavy. For example I like fall centerpieces made with flowers, leaves and mini apples. I mean, something dried and 'dead', but something live too. What do you think?
Besides I don't think a wedding must have a theme and since I am a little too perfectionist I think I would probably end up making everything too matchy, even my guests!

Thank you all for your advice. I think that I am going to try to combine the two. That way neither of them will be over powering. This board rocks! You girls are the best!
