Which would you rather do???? (HM related)

Which would you rather do???? (HM related)

For your HM?

Go some where exotic and expensive for less time -- like 7 days or so (Like Tahiti/Bora Bora or Hawaii)

OR

Go some where less expensive and more common like Aruba or Bahamas for longer 10 days - 14 days??

Assume you've never been to ANY of the places.

I'd do Aruba or the Bahamas for longer. They are still beautiful places!! Plus, a week isn't long enough for something like Hawaii.

I would go with Aruba. (I didn't really like the Bahamas).
It's funny, but I think that we only consider the carribbean 'common' b/c we are from New York and it is not that far away. I went to Turks and Caicos last year and met a couple from San Francisco and they were on their honeymoon and they though that coming to Turks was 'exotic' b/c the beaches are so beautiful. They had been to Hawaii tons of times and had never seen a beach like in Turks.

Personally I would prefer to go really exotic and luxurious for a shorter period and then spend a few days at home relaxing ... than spend more days in a less exotic local.

Although I dont think Hawaii is exotic since its an American state. Asia and Australia seem much more exotic to me.

I agree. i voted for cheaper and longer.

I'm torn cuz your HM is a once in a lifetime thing but if you have the chance to take extra time off....that's cool too! We're doing 1 week because I don't want to use up all my time off this early in the year.

We are going to a smokey mountains. lots of out door stuff, we have our own cabin, full breakfast is included and a hot tub.

since we only get two weeks vacation we are only taking a week for our honeymoon..

So I'd go for exotic but short. If it's gonna be short its gonna be worth every minute of it.

I am stuck with the same problem.

I want 3 days in hawaii, then go on a 7 day hawaii cruise.

but for a little cheap we can do like 2 weeks at an allinclusive resort in DR.

But I hear those resorts can get a little boring after 1 week. Unless you want to keep spending on excursions.

Any input????

I said longer cheaper because with the place syou mentioned for shorter, exotic you are eating up a day just in travel each way so you really then only have like a 5 day period and that IMO isnt enough for Hawaii or Tahiti.

FH and I decided that with paying for a wedding and buyinga house to hold off on the 'exotic' for an anniversary down the line! So we are going to probably go to aruba for 10-11 days and then in a few years we will take that trip to Hawaii or Tahiti!

Your Honeymoon is once in a lifetime, true but personally I dotn think the location makes it such, I think how you enjoy it is what makes it that once in a life time event! So I think you can meet in the middle with a great location, thats alittle price and a little far (aka Aruba) and stil have a great time!

ETA Jenny I think your issue is differnt, in your case I would go on the hawaii trip because you will still be there along period of tiem and you will get to see alot! IF you were just going to stay in Hawaii for 7 days I personally dont think that would be enough.

I don't think 10 days is that long for a honeymoon. I wanted 2 weeks, but had a lot of agents tell me 2 weeks can get boring.

Jenny - I'm concerned about that too.... Is it worth it if you're just going to get bored by the 11th day? It's kind of like a party -- you want to leave while it's still good so you have a good lasting impression of it, rather than remembering everyone getting sick and passing out all over the floor....
