while we're talking about BC.. i have a quesion..

i'm on estrostep... when i started taking it my friend who was also on BC said she doesnt take the week of sugar pills, so i stopped taking them... i never really told my doctor, i just assumed they were sugar pills just so that you stay on track with taking one every single day... now from what i'm reading, it sounds like i should be taking them anyway... have i been doing this wrong.. or does anyone else skip that week?

Its ok to skip sugar pills. THey're in there just to help you keep track of the days. Just make sure that what you're skipping really is sugar pills.

i never take them. just make sure you know when to start your next pack.

wouldnt that mean you wouldnt get your pd tho? i have no clue about this.
ETA: nm, i get it. you mean you don't take them, but you don't start your new pack right away. i know plenty of ppl who do this. i take my iron pills bc it keeps me on track.

I have been on the pill for 14 years and have NEVER once taken the last row.....They are just so you don't forget the next week to start your new pack.

gotta be careful about that -- the BC I'm on has small amounts of hormones in the last row of pills.

Read the info that comes with the pack to be sure.

o. i didnt know that... im on Estrostep.. is anyone else on this who doesnt take the last row? im scared to tell my obgyn now, she'll get mad at me.

I never take the sugar pills... I've been on BC for almost 11 years now. Wow! I do get my period for that week, but I just don't take any pill. Insurance wouldn't cover it anyway if you keep going without a period.

That last week of pills is just to a reminder. I'm sure your gyno won't get mad if you tell them.

I have been on Estrostep for about 10 years and have never taken the sugar pills. The are not necessary to take as long as you remember when to start your new pack! No worries!!
