WHITE?!

Sooooooo my mom was telling me that she was talking to my grandma(dad's mom) and she was talking about this beautiful suit with beading and stuff that she bought to wear for our wedding. Gram loves to shop and dress up which would be one of the reasons she is already picking out her outfit.

However, she went on to say it is 'all white!!!!!' I couldn't believe it!!!! My mom said she was like 'oh the bride stands out on her own blablabla.' I love my gram and I'm sure she isn't doing this viciously, but COME ON?! Who wears ALL white?!! My mom said she didn't even bother getting into it with her because she knows she will end up picking something else since it is so far away and she is always shopping. I just was astounded.

I feel like I don't even really care that much because it's my grandmother, it is just the point though!!!

What is your take on the guests wearing white thing? Do you care?

I care! I know its stupid and yes obviously the bride stands out but I still do not want anyone to wear white to my wedding! I went dress shopping with my sister once for one of her friends weddings and she actually wanted to wear white and I was completely shocked...Isn't it like a law or something not to wear white to another persons wedding lol

hahahaha right?!?!? I feel like yeah maybe it is kind of an old belief, but just respect it!!! I would NEVER EVER do that to someone regardless of if they cared or not!!!

I care too and if my grandma came to me and showed me her white outfit I would be like Gram u cant wear white only the bride does LOL but me and my randma dont really have that great of a relationship shes mean to me most of the time

no one should be wearing white to a wedding except for the bride. period.

with that said, the one exception can potentially be the grandma because she's the matriarch and clearly wont be confused with the bride.

but in the end, no one should wear white.

I personally think it's a bit rude. It's not a question of will the person actually steal attention from bride (not happening) but just respect the tradition a bit, KWIM?

It also depends on the type of outfit. A white suit will bother me much less than a white floor length gown

OMG i saw the post on the 10 board about a guest in all white and i was going to post that i wouldn't put it past my dad GF to wear all white and was going to ask who you girls thought who would most likely wear white to there wedding if any !!!

hmmm your situation is tricky my meema(gram) is walking my down the aisle and if she did wear white i could deal with it but if my dads GF did i would be mad so it depends on who it is ... i actually wanted the BMs to wear white and i got a lot of crap about it

Yeah I know what you mean!!!! It is my grandmother so it isn't the worst and it could kind of be sentimental. However, I don't think she is really doing it to be sentimental haha.-- I think she just really liked the outfit and decided to justify herself wearing it by making up these asinine reasons why it is okay! Just follow the rules Grammmmm!!!

honestly, I really don't mind. no other person at the wedding that is going to wear white will out do you!!!! Especially a suit!!! I just feel like nothing will compare to the magnitude of my dress anyway!!!!

i think it is beyond tacky that anyone would show up to the wedding wearing white or any shade thereof.
it is impolite, lacks common sense and smakcs on inapprorpiate-ness

I also feel that only the bride should wear white. I was in Estelle's with my mom the other day and a girl was trying on a long white beaded sheath gown, and I heard her say, 'Do you think the bride would mind if I wore this?' I wanted to say something SO BAD. She didn't wind up getting the dress though, I was relieved for that bride of the wedding she was attending.
