Although my parents and his parents wanted to pay, FH and I wanted to pay for it on our own so we are throwing the party, which will be sometime in Oct/Nov.

We threw it for ourselves...with some $$ help from both sets of parents.

FH's parents paid for most of it, but FH put down the initial $500 deposit and then my Dad also contributed $500.

we just went to dinner with our families aunts/unles/grandparents/cousins for a meet and greet thing, nothing crazy maybe 30 people and my mom paid.

I planned one my Dad didnt like the location, so he up and changed everything and paid

my parents & FMIL do not like the idea of e-parties & we all agreed that if anyone wanted to send us a gift to celebrate they would do so. & many people did.

We didn't have one our parents are helping with the wedding so we would have had to pay for the engagement party and we need to save for our wedding.

Technically........I threw my own. As in, I did all of the planning on my own. But my dad paid for it. I was told, and I quote 'Just plan everything and have them send me the bill......'
