DJ your wedding? I'm totally lost. Seriously, I'm overwhelmed ini waht I should be looking for. They all seem the same to me. We are looking for someone very low-key, who plays the music at the party but isn't the life of the party...if you knwo what i mean. any advice or names you've used?

he does showcases(think on Mondays) so you can get a feel for him the day of..

Im using Starlight Express. I also wanted someone low key. They say they will be as involved or not as you want them to be. Also they have veryhigh quality equipment and FH is all into that so that was a big reason for us to book them. And I hear they mix the music very well!

I'm actually going to a showcase for FM tonight at their office in East Rockaway (I think that's where it is). I also am having trouble deciding on a DJ that i like but won't make me poor.

I think you'll like Frank.. He did my wedding and the dance floor was packed!! professional and not in your face like some other MCs I've seen at weddings...

I felt exactly the same as you, and I'm very happy with who I booked - Big Hits Entertainment.. Came highly recommended by friends.
Some others I had called almost seemed too busy to even talk to me.. Gerry from Big Hits is the owner, he's who you deal with and he's been in business 20 years. Not one of those companies who has to over-advertise.

You should def. check out DJ Gaza aka Gary Hoffman. Just a really laid back, down to earth guy. He used to be a club (rock and other) DJ before doing weddings so he knows how to spin em without being cheesy or anything.

I'm using Frank from FM Entertainment. We really liked his showcase. Frank is so nice. I sat on the phone with him for 2 hours before we booked going over all of our questions...He even called Leonard's for me to see if they allowed fog machines. Also his prices are sooooo reasonable!
