We are giving my daughter her shower sometime in the near future. The MOG said that she will be giving a HM basket at the shower.
I wanted to give my daughter an outfit for the night of the wedding - something from VS. First of all is it tradition for the MOB to give the bride her night of wedding outfit? Will I be stepping on toes if I tell MOG that I am buying a white outfit for the night of the wedding?
Please help!

Do you know if the bride wants a night of outfit from a family member?
I personally thought it was a little uncomfortable but I am also not following all traditions. My mother got us honeymoon stuff and pesos for our HM in Mexico.

I don't think there's any rule that says who is supposed to by the bride her outfit for the night of. I personally would be weirded out of my FMIL bought me something to wear LOL. My mother and sister gave me a white outfit to wear the night of. So, I definitely do not think you are stepping on any toes!

My Mom got me a 'Bride' silk robe from VS and I love it.

Wow that is a very good thought! I understand feeling funny receiving something like that in front of a room full of family and friends! It is one thing going to buy things at VS for yourself.

Traditionally, it is the MOB who gives the bride lingerie at the shower...I don't think you would be stepping on toes at all if you told the MOG you were doing this.
That being said...my mom gave me mine and I thought it was a tad embarrassing...plus she made sure she said loudly 'this is more of a gift for (FH's name.') Thanks mom.

my mom gave me lingerie but we didn't open gifts at the shower so it worked perfectly! Maybe give it to her after the shower at home.

Did anyone have anythingto say about not opening gifts at the shower? Some pople are very old fashioned an might think it rude not to acknowledge the gifts. We were debating on not opening gifts - everyone is werapping in clear and we would just display the presents.

i was not aware of any traditions regarding 'outfits' The only thing I would say is that you never know when she will wear it...i ended up with like 5 different outfits...still havent worn them all yet! get her whatever you want
If you are wrapping in clear, then i dont think there is a need to open gifts...

my mom and moh bought me a ton of lingerie my moh got me all my white stuff and my mom some sexy stuff from vs
you wont be stepping on her toes your her mom so you should get it for her if thats what you want to do

My MIL gave me an outfit and I just about died.....but it turned out to be mostly my style (more like pjs)
Her cousin gave me an outfit that is more like cute sleepwear
My mom and sister also gave me cute sleepwear. Mom also gave me a white VS Bride robe
I can honestly say, not one of the outfits given were used on the wedding night

As far as I knew I think that is pretty traditional?
It wasn't overly sexy or anything - just a white silk dress. SExy but not overtly.

My Mom got me a wedding night outfit too. A nice white silk sheer robe. Not too overly sexy, a bit embarrassing, but I know that's the tradition. It's really beautiful!
