Who charges tax?

Who charges tax?

I know that catering halls charge tax, and I assume that bridal salons do as well. What about other vendors - photographers, bands, florists, limo companies? Do they all charge tax, too? Trying to budget everything in!

Thanks.

pure services do not charge tax... but if they choose to, they can charge tax on the materials needed to perform their service (ie... film & such)

So I guess that means that bands don't tax, but photographers may. What about florists and limos?

Florists may, depends upon how you pay for it usually...

I think the same goes for Limos, or it's worked into the price. Bands generally don't, nor do photographers.

limo's are not suppose to be taxed.. music should not be taxed.. and i think hair maynot be taxed(but not sure on that one)

If you pay florists by check, should they charge tax??

Limos & florist charged us tax. Our photographer also charged tax. I believe all photgraphers charge tax, unless you have a special arrangement with them.

None of our musicians charged tax.

There is tax on photography, video, flowers, catering hall. There is no tax on entertainment in NY.
