to the rehearsal dinner? I figured all of my bridal party and their husbands/boyfriends. Do I invite my single friends with a guest like I do for the wedding? Not sure how this works.

Usually it's both parents, and anyone involved in the ceremony and their spouses or boyfriends/girlfriends and maybe the officiant.
You can if you like and have the money to do it, invite those that are coming from out of town, even one from Japan. We have too many so we won't be doing that, can't afford it.
We are inviting the officiant and his wife as well as our readers. We also have a woman who wanted to be in our wedding party but couldn't afford it, however she will be handing out the programs and bubbles so we are including her, as well as my grandmother's cousin, the only one left in our family from that generation.

We're not having a church rehearsal since the wedding is at the venue, but we're inviting those in our bridal party and their significant others/guests, immediate family, and OOT guests, for a sort of thank you dinner. You can invite who you want really, but typically its those involved in the ceremony from what I understand.

I'm just inviting immediate family and bridal party. One of my bridesmaids is single and I'm not doing plus ones, it's just dinner with a small group so I don't think she'll mind, she knows them all.

I wish it were this easy.... My parents feel that all out of town guests (family) should be invited to the rehearsal dinner.... We are currently arguing over this.

Its usually, just parents, bridal party (and significant others), and officiant. its mainly for anyone involved with the ceremony.

We're doing parents and bridal party (with their SO). Those that are single will not get a guest. We're looking at about a total of 28.

We're in a similar situation. In the end we gave in, since both our parents are contributing. We initially only wanted 30 guests, but it grew to over 50 . Maybe you can come to a comprise and ask them to chip in, or cover the extra guests since they're so inclined to invite them.
