Cable.

I've had the dish before, but I didn't care for it. I think it's all a matter of preference.

Cablevision seems to run LI....

Yeah, me too. I signed up for the triple play and so far so good. I am happy with everything. I pay $112/mo I think for internet, cable and phone..better than what I was paying before with DirectTV/Verizon and Cablevision. I saved about $100/mo. I was getting ripped off big time.

How is the Optimum Voice? I was thinking about doing this to save BIG time! We don't really use the home phone much...but still keep call waiting and caller ID on. Are those features standard with Optimum Voice?

Yes, and you can check your messages on the computer if you are not at home if you use their VM bank. The only bad thing about optimum voice is that there is no phone service during power outages.

To answer the original question, we just switched from Direct TV to the cable triple play to save some $$, but I have heard that after 1 year the triple play cost increases, and that $100 for all three is only for the 1st year.

I preferred DirectTv - better stations and more choices, but the cost was HORRIBLE.

We have DirectTV. I love it. We have had a few 'line' problems. Something got rusted once and screwed up the stations.

I would advise making sure you have a clear shot from your house to the satellite. If you have trees or anything your connection can get messed up.

We have Tivo too (BEST Thing EVER!!!) and we pay about $110 per month.

I'll let you know at the year point. Hopefully, at that point there will be some more competition in the arena which will keep the costs down. I am very happy with it. I keep my cell phone for power outages. I kept my verizon line for a while out of insecurity, but realized it was just silly. We are not big movie watchers but we have our favorites, like Yes, Food Network, TNT, USA..just make sure you get the package that has your favs in it.

We were looking into the triple play with cablevision last night, and the woman said that the price would go up to 126/month after a year. I am just concerned about the power outage situation....especially since we also want to install a central monitoring alarm system. It definitely seems like a great deal though.

Re: Who do you have for Cable or Dish?

we have it and i think its fine. if the power goes out, you do have a cell phone if you need it. Our house has 2 cable lines coming in, so one we use for TV, the other for phone/internet. So sometimes one line will go out, but we'll have the other (one is newer than the other). a little strange, but its fine.

I was thinking when our year is up switching telephone to Vonage, it will be cheaper then also.

We have the DVR service and all together its about $108 w/ the triple play. we got it in October last year.

Good luck!
