Does every female invited to the wedding get invited to the shower? Like parents friends and stuff?

I wouldn't invite parents friends - just maybe ones you talk to - I am inviting one of my moms friends
You don't have to invite everyone to the shower - you don't want people to say why did i get a shower invite
I have 52 people on my list so far

i think etiquette says that its suppose to be every female invited to the wedding. But I think its ok to limit it to your friends and family and coworkers that you want there

i'm not inviting every woman.... i think we have about 70 people. i do have my mom's friends on there but thats because i have known them since i am 7 and want them there as well. we didnt invite some OOT's and some other women that arent as close to us

ITA - I don't want something huge (I know...more people = more gifts I'm showered with) so I'm thinking of going this route. This will still probably stick me with about 35-40 people...
...and there's a holud (big party for the bride and groom) the night before the wedding in Bengali culture...
...and then a few weeks after the wedding, a party for extended family from the groom's side. (This is also Bengali culture)
(See why I want something small and personal?)

Mine will probably be MOST of the women invited to the wedding, but not all. For instance, one of FH's old co-workers is invited with his GF, but we don't really know his GF so she won't be invited to the shower. My mom also has a lot of sisters that are from out of state. She said she's not going to invite them to the shower. But they will be invited to the wedding. I think that's strange, but she doesn't think they'll come for the shower anyhow since they live so far away. Hey, they're her sisters and she's planning and helping to pay for the shower.....I'm not going to argue.
ETA: but my parent's closest friends, or closest friends' wives will be invited.

I don't think it has to be every woman by any means. For example, there are people who are being invited with their gfs, but I don't actually know those gfs so they wouldn't be invited. Also, any work friends of my parents that I don't know or way distant cousins or something wouldn't be invited either.

ITA, I just went to a friend shower and she just had her friends, own coworkers and female family members. Parents friends/coworkers/neighbors weren't there and they are invited to the wedding.

usually u invite the women who are invited to the wedding. thats what im doing.
my fsil just had her shower and she just invited her BP, and some friends from college. so it was very intimate with about 12 women.
its whatever u want.

I was wondering the same thing...here is what teh peggy post wedding ettiquette book says...... 'the guest list should be made up of close friends, attendants and family members. Showers are intimate gatherings for people you know very well-not excuses to haul in more gifts'
