We use Petro too. A co-worker recommended them. Their prices are not the cheapest but their customer service is superior. My co-worker woke up at 3 am and his house was freezing. They had a 5 month old baby at the time. Petro was there within an hour to fix the furnace. We've also had to have them come a few times and they've always been great. The first time, we happened to mention how the shower would go cold occasionally, and the guy looked at the pipes, said there was no back-flow valve and if he had one in the truck he'd put it in - no charge. He fixed the problem! He told us that the company policy was that if there was something they could fix in under an hour to do so, even if it wasn't technically part of the contractually covered stuff.

We have gas heat as well, but I wanted to second and third the Petro recommendation. They are one of our biggest clients (I work for an environmental engineering firm), and from my standpoint, I would have to recommend them. What people may not know as well is that they own several of the other little smaller oil compnaies, like Meenan.

Re: who does everyone use for oil
another good pointer... usually they'll give you the first few years (1 - 5 years) free of contract fees. once that is up, they'll charge you a contract fee. if you tell them you are going to dump them for someone who is offering a free contract, they'll waive the fee. my father does this every two years with petro (as a satisfied customer) and they always do it for him.
