Who dyes the shoes?

I'm confused. My BMs have to go for their fittings in October so they're going to need their shoes. Do they buy their shoes somewhere & bring them in the dress store to get them dyed or do they get them dyed in the shoe store they buy them? Do they all have to get dyed together at the same time and place to make sure color matches? I'm confused. Please help.

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

They buy the shoes so they can be fitted with the shoes (needed for the hemline). Then they get a swatch, return to the shoe store and get them dyed there. No need to go all together - As long as they have a swatch, they'll match.

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

Does that mean they all have to buy shoes at the same store so the dye matches?

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

Meg is exactly right. All you need is a swatch of material and you are set. You can either get it dyed where you bought the shoes, or there are places you can go to get them dyed, but it would probably be more $$.

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

I don't think that is necessary. The store will dye to match the swatch exactly. As long as the dresses are the same color, the shoes should match.

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

As long as you have a swatch, they will match the dye exactly no matter where you go, so it doens't matter if they get them at the same store or not.

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

If you want everyone's shoes to be exactly, exactly the same shade then you should bring them together to get dyed and the shoes should all be the same material and brand. It really depends on how picky you are.

For my friend's wedding we all bought our shoes wherever and got them dyed at the stores we bought them. They all came out all different shades of blue. The dresses are so long you barely noticed (mine were a lot brighter than any other girl). Different materials take to the dye different ways. Some stores match to the swatch but some make you pick from the color swatches they have (I know Parade did it that way..which stinks).

One other wedding I was in the MOH, took them all back to the store and had them all dyed together. They were all the same shoe from the same store so the came out perfectly matched.

Also, if you decide to let them go on their own and the store asks, tell them go lighter. Parade had swatches to choose from and none matched the dress so I had to choose and went darker. The other girls all had lighter shoes. I looked like Smurf feet. I didn't know what was appropriate and had asked the bride and she said darker. I hear the proper thing is to go lighter. You live and learn.

Re: Who dyes the shoes?

It should not matter where you have the shoes dyed. I definitely would have them for the fitting and get them dyed at the shoe store you bought them from. (unless they don't do the dying) I think the wedding gallery in Bayshore has shoes and does the dying.
