28days is a remake (or an attempt) of a living dead movie. For me this was everything it should have been.

Stupid humor (sniper shots)
Gore (ways ot die and kill)
Predictible? of course.. i mean it'd be stupid if it had some sort of elaborate twist.

But hey.. that's just me. I liked it.

I liked them both actually.

Dawn of the living dead cracked me up at some parts.

Dawn of the Dead is a remake too

True. I've seen all the 'living dead' movies.

This to me is more like an add on than a remake.. since there's already a living dead with them in a mall.

So yes, it's a remake of A Living Dead movie but at least it kept to the original concept. If they're dead they can't get hungry and die.

I just like continuity. Again, I'll say I still liked 28days later.

I am soo confused...the original Dawn of the dead is a reamke of night of the living dead???

My Fh and i were going to rent the original Dawn but when we saw the cover of the video it looked too cheesy

Here's a short history (I'm missing a few I'll try to plug them in) Really only George Romero's are considered classics.

The original is called Night of the living dead (1968) and is in Black and white. Directed by George Romero

Dawn of the living Dead (1978) Directed by George Romero
City of the Living Dead (1983)
Day of the Dead (1985) Directed by George Romero
Hell of the Living Dead (1984)
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Return of the Living Dead 2 (1988)
Then it was Night of the Living Dead (1990)
Return of the Living Dead 3 (1993)

The BEST thing about the remake of the 'Return of the Living Dead' movie???

The guy who used to do all the PATHMARK commercials was in it! I thought that was so funny.

Differences between the two:

The Dead/Zombies

28 Days later:
Started as an experiment..'Rage' not really dead just enraged (like permanantly high - dangerous)
Infected by any fluid transfer (i.e. blood drop in the eye)
Drive: Kill all people just because
Method of killing: Head shots only because any other wounds wont really slow them down (ie like a crack addict they keep coming)
They can Die by starvation because they are still 'alive'. Theorically they could die as any human can, drowning, fire, etc.

Living Dead:
Unknown origin
The Dead are.. Dead. You must die first before being 'turned'
Infected by bite. Generally speaking those bit and turned are usually ones who think they can survive after being bit and hide themselve until they turn. Most living dead will stay on the scent of a 'live' one until it turns they they lose interest. Living dead will nealy completely eat a live person until they turn (ie. one living dead movie where the living dead only had upper torso.)
The Dead are Dead and they can not be killed by any other method than a head shot. They can not be drowned, they can not be hurt (ie. they lose an arm it's ok). They can be burned however, as long as it's the brain that's destroyed as well.
Because they can not die, you can not wait them out. They will find you. Until this latest movie, however, they were slower (zombie-like).

Question of Cross Continental Travel:

28 days later: UK only. The news well spread and immediately the island was quaranteed.

Living Dead: Due to the fact that you turn so quickly, it's nearly impossible to make it off continent. Only modes of transit are boat and air. Planes with dead can not land, hence they are destroyed along with the dead. Boats can float to land and spread the virus but generally that's just hit and miss. Theory is more living would know by then and make this impossible.

Whew.. now there's too much about a movie theory!!! LOL

Favorite Scenario: the freeze dried living dead. The army kept them to see if they could find a use for them (drop a few 'dead' on an enemy camp). Freeze dried you can see the living dead's face through a small window. Then an idiot private bumps the cannister and it 'rehydrates'. By the end of the movie all the 'dead' are burned.. people are safe.. but then it starts to rain and the 'infection' gets into the public water system.

I can't see Final Destination again from beginning to end without feeling really really sad and depressed. I don't think I can handle FD2.

*shrug*

I heard that Final Destination 2 was a LOT more gory (grammar)

a lot??? it was the nastiest movie!!! freaked me out!!!
