I'm looking for some opinions on who gets invited to a bridal shower... one of my BM's asked me for a guest list -- but i'm at a loss...

I asked my MIL and my mother who they wanted, and then I added my friends.

My MIL made up her own list, then there's my list of girlfriends, my mom's list of all female family members & family friends. I always hear that co-workers are supposed to do somthing separately, which I agree with b/c I know showers can be a big $$ burdon on the mother/bridesmaids & MOH. But, it really depends on the person.

Have your mom and FMIL make up a list of who they want there, also include your own friends and other women you'd like to be there. Just make sure that anyone invited to the shower will also be invited to the wedding (but you don't have to invite every woman who will be invited to the wedding).

since our weddings are a day apart, we are the same thing! I just got asked this to and have been trying to work this out to, but i think since its only a few work people that i want there and not close with everyone else at work they will be invited to, as well as FMIL and my mom are just making a list and then my friends HTH

If you're asking as far as etiquette, the only real rule of thumb is you cannot invite anyone to the shower that you do not intend to invite to the wedding. Usually you invite all of your female guests unless they are someone's random date.
I gave my MOH my guest list and just placed an 'x' next to my friends. I let her, my mom & FMIL duke out the rest. (They all get along really well, so it wasn't a problem)
