Aside from that question being on the cover of a pamphlet distributed to high school students...
Who should we send Save The Dates to? We ordered them today, along with our invites.. We are inviting 265 people, getting 150 invites.. and figured we'd order 75 STDs..
But in thinking about- we probably only need 50 to send to VIPs, OOT Guests and wedding party..
We really want 20% of our guest list not to show up..
What did you guys do?

I am thinking of sending them to pretty much all of the guests. Our wedding is on Father's day weekend, so I want to make sure that they have plenty of notice.
What I'm not sure of is do I put the hotel info in the STD or just the invite? Since the reception is out east and a lot of people are coming from Nassau/the City (and many want to party without having to drive that night) I'm going to block rooms near the reception.

I think it is a good idea to send your STD's to everyone cause of the weekend your wedding is, plus with it being out east, it is a pseudo-destination wedding. I would include the hotel info in the STDs.. not the invites. But that is what I am doing..
Also, we have a wedding site on Wedding Channel that has that info as well, which we will include the URL in the STD's.
I am just not sure if I should send out less than more STD's... I am waiting for my invitation person to call me- so, I'll find out the price difference- if it is less than like 75 bucks, I'll just opt for more..

thats a great idea about putting your website info with the STDs. How are you doing it? an extra insert with the info on it?

it is just added onto the copy..
The card is like a tri-fold, the long way-- which is nice to section it off and allow for spacing for different types of information.
first section- our names & wedding date
second section- hotel info, ask for the blank/blank wedding & for additional wedding info, please visit our wedding web site at www.etc.com
last section- says something about us tieing the knot- which ties into the metaphor of the STD, as it has a ribbon on it- tied in--you guessed it- a knot.

I'm going to hand them out as favors at my engagement party in 2 weeks, and then mail the rest out to guests that weren't invited to the e-party. I won't be giving them to parents, brother and sister, etc.

I think we are sending them to everyone that is definitley invited to the wedding. We made magnets and with them we are also enclosing a postcard size insert that gives the hotel info as well as the link to our website! I think we are also going to include the hotel info again with the invitations.

we are sending our magnets out to everyone who is definitely going to be invited... basically our 'a' list, for the OOT guests std's and people who live out east etc. we are also sending hotel information.

we sent it to the 'must haves' (99.9% sure they would make it barring any other conflict/emergency) and all the OOTers...
