Re: Who gets tipped???
DJ, photographer (but not really Imagine since they own their own company - I tipped them because I was extremely happy with their services), maitre d, bartenders, florist delivery person (just $10 or so), officient (more like donation), limo drivers -I think that's it. It really adds up!
Edited to say I forgot hair/make-up people. Also ceremony musicians if you have them.

Re: Who gets tipped???
Does the service charge you pay with the hall and with the limo cover tips for waitstaff, maiter'd and limo driver? Also, if the vendor is the owner of the business, I thought it wasn't necessary to tip them, just their assistants if they bring one. Of course, you can give them a tip if you want but I thought it was 'required'.
I'm kinda confused on this (can't you tell????)

Re: Who gets tipped???
We were confused about tipping too - here's who we tipped:1. Maitre'd - $2/person + a little extra for the great job he did
2. Reverend - $50 because of all the work she put into our ceremony and the great job she did
3. DJ - $50
4. MC - $50
5. Limos - although their gratuity was included and I swore we wouldn't, we gave each driver $25 because they really went above and beyond
6. Photographer - even though he owns his own business, we felt awkward tipping the other photographer who is employed by him, and NOT him...it just didn't feel right to us, but I know many will differ with me on this...
7. Flower delivery person - $25, because I was in a giving mood at that moment (DH has no idea - heehee)
8. Makeup - I gave her 20% of everyone combined (me, mom and MIL)
9. Hair - 20%
Hope this helps....

Re: Who gets tipped???
Okay, so now I'm confused. Why are we paying 20% service charge? I can see tipping those that did not have a service charge but why pay 20% and tip. The service charge alone for my reception is over 10K. Someone please explain, me-is-a-lost-on-a-this-a-one!!!

Re: Who gets tipped???
balilove:This is an ongoing debate since I've been on the boards.....I assume you mean the Maitre'd, and it's just standard wedding tipping I guess.....I'm not sure of the 'point' of it, I mean they work on a salary I think, and it is their job to be there, but I don't know if they get the 20% service charge - I think that may go to the wait/bar staff....I could be wrong here, but it was even written on my contract 'suggested maitre'd tip' or something like that...
Marcella:
Yes, I gave the tip when they delivered to my MILs house...

Re: Who gets tipped???
Thanks for the info, I'm going to check my contract. I think I'll ask my bridal consultant that's what she is for. I have a feeling someone is going to be carrying around an envelope of money for tipping..oh, I can't wait to tell my FI that. It is a good thing my dad will have the envelope.Welcome New Vendors
