Re: Who goes to rehearsal dinner?

This happened to me once. My FH was in a wedding party and i was not invited to the rehearsal dinner, neither were other significant others, not even spouses. Honestly, I was offended. I would invite if they had someone serious, were engaged, or were married. JMO

I just invited the bridal party, and their significant others. It is just a rehearsal. I didnt want to make a big deal out of it. That is JMO.

We're inviting the BP and their dates, my Jr BM's parents and both of our immediate families (siblings, parents).

plus don't forget anyone doing anything special in the ceremony, i.e., friends and relatives who are readers, singers, etc.

My MIL did not want significant others from our bridal party to attend, I'd agreed also. Only our best man was married, but the spouse was not invited and due to scheduling conflicts he was not able to attend. Our rehearsal and RD was on a Wednesday evening and our wedding was on a Saturday (long story). Our ceremony site's only available date and time for rehearsal that was closest to our date was on the Wednesday before our wedding and to simplify life MIL made the rehearsal and RD the same day. Our entire bridal party was invited but not all was able to attend, our parents, siblings, and parents of our Jr. GM and only 1 younger sibling of our Jr. GM attended since they were OOTs.

Re: Who goes to rehearsal dinner?

In terms of etiquette, the RD is supposed to be parents, bridal party and spouses. So if they're married, you're supposed to invite the couple.
We also invited people that were in the ceremony (readers, sponsors, etc.) because obviously, if they're coming to the rehearsal, they should also be invited to the dinner.

SOs is a nice gesture, but not necessary.

Normally OOTs get invited too, but in this day and age, I don't think anyone would get offended if you didn't due to budget constraints. We had 55 people come in from the UK. Our RD was $70/person. We just couldn't work it into the budget.

At our RD there will be: our parents, siblings, grandmother, aunts & uncles (those that are doing something important at our wedding and a aunt & uncle who are the parents of two cousins in the BP), cousins (those that are doing something important and the sister of the two cousins in the BP) & BP. Almost every member of our BP is married, so it will be with their spouses and for those that are not married, they will not be allowed to bring a guest.
