Who had a terrible commute this morning on the LIRR??

I commute from Great Neck on the Port Washington line.

Train was 20 minutes late and then made all local stops. We were standing like cattle as more and more people tried to squish on.

What a lovely morning!

DH just e-mailed me from the train. He is still on his 7:21 'express' out of Babylon which just left Jamaica. He said it is stopping EVERYWHERE.

i took an 7:32 out of huntington which was on time but stopped in hicksville and didnt open the doors and sat for 15 minutes after mineola ended up getting in 20 minutes late. I got a little extra time to sleep.

I took the 5:54am (Port Jeff) line in this morning. We were 25 minutes late. The thing that made me so mad was that the lot was a mess! As I was pulling in this morning, they had guys shoveling a pathway to the train.

ETA: LIRR posted an advisory that there are currently 45 minute delays - system wide. Should make going home even more fun.

It was sooooooooo bad. The 7:12 from Huntington usually gets into Penn at 8:10. Today it got in at 8:45, and there was NO heat in my car, and it was a shorter train so people were standing. Ugh.

My Ronkonkoma train stopped EVERYWHERE too. We were 45 minutes late and FOUR CARS SHORT!!

DH gets the 6:45 or something like that (I am still asleep) from Wantagh express and he had no problems this morning....Surprised me that's for sure!

I had no problem commutting to...my basement office!! I WISH I could have used a snow day excuse!!

i actually had a decent commute to the train came on time and no crowd but we were late getting into penn for like 10 min thats okay though.

Our office said employees should try their ‘best’ to get in on time.

Normally I take the Mineola train in at 7:33am and make it to my desk before 8:45.

Today, I took the Hempstead train because it is literally half a block from my house. So Jim could have more time for work and both of us could have more sleep time. I TRIED to take the 8:03, which should arrive in Penn close to 8:50.

All trains were running 20-30mins late. But the 8:03 was only 10 or so minutes late. I thought I was good, but we spent another 20mins fiddling with the doors. Finally ended up with two cars that doors would not open or close anymore.

It was slow going and every time we stopped the people should have to rush back or forward to a car with working doors (like mine) but then they wouldn’t walk through to the other cars, so my car was PACKED. I was on an express but it was slow to take off from some stops and made an extra stop in Bellrose. No stop in Jamaica (which, by the way, I got to at 9:05am).

I took my gloves off and called in to say I was running really late.

Got to the office at 10:05am. AND I left my gloves in the train!

NJT trains are not much better.

It took me 2 hours and we too hit EVERY stop.

I think so. It was supposed to leave Central Islip at 8:03 and didn't get there until 8:20.

It was crowded on that train!

That was the one! What a nightmare!! I got to work at 10:15am!! I was thinking more like 9:30ish when I started out this morning. I hate the LIRR!

Me too, I was actually aiming for the train before it but the roads were so bad I missed it and then the one we took was horrible! I couldn't believe it was FOUR cars short.

Mine was fine. The train came on time and was still express. It just hit traffic around Jamaica so maybe about 10 mins later of so into Penn. I was on 7:29 Express at Bellmore. I was pleasantly surprised how good they did despite the horrid cold and snow.

Me Me Me!!!

Took the Kew Gardens (Supposed 7:41..arrived actually at 8:15) to Jamaica, got lucky and transferred right away. Was waiting otuside in the cold at Kew Gardens all that time. Got to work at 9:40 (Supposed to be there 9:00). Had to walk from the train to the library (5 blocks).. in the biting cold!

OMG! Standing room only, if you could even call it that. There were so many people on the Babylon line (combined 3 trains into 1) that people in RVC and Jamaica had to wait for next train. and it was supposed to go to Flatbush, but they redirected it to penn!!!!
