what is a FOCCUS. A test???? I am scared.

Its a test to see how if your goals and crap match. They ask you multiple choice questions, like do you a agree, disagree, and not sure i think was the last one. They ask you like questions about church, finances , spirituality, children stuff like that. Although question 95 or 97 I will never forget, lol it asked if you ever have homosexual feelings. I lost it when I was on that question.

I am fuming right now. I am supposedly going to recieve a letter this weekend telling me I have the FOCUUS on Sept 30, then PreCana once a week in October.

First of all, my Oct calendar all ready is packed for Oct, school related things, part time job, etc. Shouldnt they give you more notice for such a committment. Like I have nothing else to do.

I know waht you mean! My precan starts 2nd week of Jan and ends 2nd week of Feb, plus you have to go to opening mass and closing mass. Im not happy at all! I would have rathered gotten married at my reception site but my mother would of had an anerism (sp?)

Ok funny story...........We had to take the FOCCUS test. Anyway, they ask you like 200 questions about everything. (money, responsibilities, living together, sex, etc..)
It's all scantron and I found the questions to be tricky in the sense of they ask you double negatives. You have to answer if you agree, not agree, or undecided. anyway they separate you and your FH. Well, after an hour my FH was tired of reading the questions so just filled in the bubble sheet with anything. He didn't seem to think this would cause a problem. A month later they call us in to tell us we did good in most areas, except for one. It seems that My FH did not bother to read the section on drug and alcohol abuse!!!!
So, they think I'm an alcoholic!!!! I wanted to kill him!!!! Anyway-HE explained to the nun that he got tired and really didn't read the question. She believed us but didn't really think it was funny! Oh, and by the way I'm really not an alcoholic

I called my church and they said it was optional, I will opt NOT to do it. Even though I am curious about the test's compatibility rating for me and FI.

I am starting Precana at the end of September. I don't remember Foccus. I do remember the priest separating us and he asked us questions but it wasn't that many questiosn.....and then he talked to us for awhile but it was such a nice talk that neither of us including the priest noticed how much time it had passed. Every time we go and see him which has been twice(one to book the date and then to bring all of the papers), we felt so at home. I really hope I don't have to do this. I saw a little book when they gave me for the Precana about Foccus but I saw that as a weekend to do this and not necessary. How come some of you are doing this?

Sty... i did the same thing by accident, so it looked like FH had a drinking problem (meanwhile, i could drink him under the table) HAHA

fresca... it's mandatory to some churches... not many (st. brigid's is one of the few), so we have to do it before pre-cana

girlygrl... i'm doing pre-cana now for st. brigids, and we did focus a few months ago (i think we took it in april and got the results in like July).... its really not bad at all. we did it w/ george and baraba... and theyre running our pre-cana now. theyre really cool.... and anything thats said in the group doesnt go back to the church. its very open and honest,,, but i think it depends on your mindset. our group is pretty cool, and is very open about talking about their relationships... the facilitators that we have are SOOO NON judgemental, so that makes a big difference. i think from all the 'pre-cana horror stories' though, that theres a negative stigma that goes along w/ it... but its really not bad at all!

(btw.. st. brigids is pretty modern catholic... FH was never confirmed, and they didnt even try to push him.... they're very accepting)
