Who has a 'B' list?

Who has a 'B' list?

I hate this! My hall seats 140 and our guest list is up to 231 people!!!! This is ridiculous! My FFIL has added all these people to the list that he didn't tell me about originally, so now I have to call him and set him straight. FH's grandmother said that a lot of her people won't show, so that's fine, but I mean, they're all inviting like entire families instead of just the parents!! I'm like, WTF!!! If they're relatives, that's one thing, but some of their guests are just friends or neighbors and they're inviting them plus their kids! They're from the south, so I guess they don't know any better. I don't think they realize how expensive weddings are here!!!
This 'B' list crap is killing me

FH's family had originally thought that only the immediate family would show (since they all have to travel from Alabama and Georgia). But now all of a sudden everybody wants to come!!!! Like they couldn't tell me this in the beginning? So now some of my close cousins are on the 'B' list!

My B list only has about 4 people on it, but I think I'm going to have to come up with more, because A list people who I was positive would come have RSVP'ed no, and now I am getting nervous that I won't meet my minimum...

Isn't it so stressful? You either have to worry about not having your minimum show, or having too many people show!

I am going through this too. FH and his family are from Poland and most of his relatives are over there. We are not sure how many of them will be coming, but FH's parents feel it is necessary to invite 73 of them (yes, some are whole families, instead of just parents, too)

My parents are paying for the reception and our room holds about 150, and I worried that I will either not meet the minimum or have too many people and be overcrowded.

I know what you mean about your close relatives being put on a 'B' list. I have people I would love to invite, but I will have to wait to see how many 'no's' we get. And with me, I will be waiting a while to see who gets their VISA's.

Ugh for all of us going through this.

Re: Who has a 'B' list?

I definately have a B list! We counted it up last night, It consists of 32 people! FMIL recently added 6 people! And some how they jumped to the top of the B list.

I am hoping I will get some no's so I can invite some of the people on the B list. I feel bad not getting to invite EVERYBODY! And I know I will here it, if we don't get to everyone on the B list.

But we set our budget at a certain number of people, and I really want to stick with it. We are borrowing money from FMIL, so the less we borrow, the less we have to pay back.

I would definately talk to the family and tell them that it is just not an option to invite their friends kids.

I cut off my own second cousins and hal's second cousins. If we invited everybody, we would have a wedding with 300 people, and wouldn't be able to afford it in the end.

Good Luck, Hopefully they will understand!e

Defintiely a B list, with thoughts of starting a Clist! FMIL over doubled her list from the original! We budgeted for 150, but the room holds 170. Our combined guest lists come to 227 - and I've already cut many of my cousins, that I grew up with! It REALLLLY bugs me, because if FMIL told gave me an accurate count when we were looking at halls, we would have gotten a bigger room!

Re: Who has a 'B' list?

this is how i view it:

1. the greater the number of people the greater the percentage of decline
2. the great the number of OOT, the greater the percentage of decline

we want ~100
set min at 80
max we want to pay for is 125
have on guest list currently 178
1/2 are OOT, 1/2 tri-state local
have a good idea that ~30 will not attend (family from Italy who did not show for FSIL's wedding)
planning to send 150, but thinking we may send all

hoping to make target - we will see how it goes!
