I'm getting married in the winter and it will be in the middle of my first year as a teacher. My wedding and honeymoon will be during the winter break and I won't have that much time off (9 days tops), so I want to go somewhere local for our honeymoon so that I can get back home right away before school starts again. I'll just go somewhere tropical during the summer break. So i've been playing around with the idea of going to Caesar's poconos for our honeymoon. What do you girls think? Is it a nice, romantic place for a honeymoon? Honest opinions please, I want to know what i'm getting myself into!

FH & I went there October 2006 (Cove Haven). Just for the weekend. We loved it. Very romantic!!!!!! I'm sure it will be beautiful in the winter!!! We still wear our matching sweatshirts that we bought there

Honestly I wasn't a big fan. I don't know what i was really expecting to begin with but still. I felt like I was back in the 80's. I don't think it was redone or anything.
I went to Pocono Palace wth an ex years back and we were a little bored....then again most couples aren't out and about if you catch my drift.
If you go, I definetely recommend the drive to the falls, i thought they were breathtaking ABSOLUTELY amazing.

I think that's a great idea! My parents went to Cove Haven for their honeymoon, and they actually just went back there in May for their 25th anniversary, they loved it!

never been there been fh and i have stayed 3x at Skytop in the poconos. The property is HUGE. The lodge is an old castle and is beautiful, then further down which you can take a shuttle to are the cottages which are nice and big and also theres an Inn. Fh and i stayed at the Inn twice.

you're welcome. No matter where you stay at skytop, you tell the person at the front desk to call you a shuttle and its there within a few minutes. We stayed at the lodge the first time but the last 2 times stayed at the inn bc the rooms are bigger and has a balcony but we were constantly going to the lodge to hang out and we'd just get ready walk downstairs and take the shuttle.

the place is beautiful. If you want a nice quiet weekend its great. Obviously no partying or anything like that. Although theres always a wedding there, but downstairs and all the way on the opposite side of everything so you dont even see it really but in the bar it can get packed on weekends with guests from the wedding but nothing crazy. We always had a good time though. The spa is real good there too and food is excellent at all the restaurants.

Re: Who has been to Caesar's Poconos?
I went a few days after getting engaged. I thought the 'big to do' about the place was the room. The room was absolutely GORGEOUS. I could not have asked for anything more!!! Especially since your HM will be in December its a nice time of year to go. By the way, take your own logs from a supermarket back home. They will overcharge you to use the ones there!!! The only thing I must say is, the amenities are not as great as we thought they would be. The website advertises ice skating, late night entertainment..... I would say those are all just a bonus which is nothing spectacular. Really, I would say if you're going to go there you should have one main purpose in mind, if u know what I mean The room is everything u could ask for and more, so take advantage of it. The food is good, when we were there for 2 nights there was one buffet style dinner which was good. Save room for dessert! I think it would make a great HM.
