Ok ladies once again I need your help. One of fh friends has offered us his timeshare and we can pretty much go anywhere so we were thinking about going to Hawaii. I'm just confused because Hawaii has a few different islands and I don't know which one is the best. Also, I know everyone says Hawaii is expensive but what is expensive? Like what would an average bill be for dinner for two? Just to get an idea. FH and I are willing to splurge since we don't have to pay for lodging. All we would be paying for is airfare and eating and maybe some activities. Please help me I am so clueless.

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
Hawaii is the trip of a lifetime! We went to Oahu, stayed on Waikiki beach and we also went to Maui, stayed in Kaanaapali. It is expensive mostly because of the lodgeing. Most people want to beauty of the island and stay in oceanfront rooms/suites. But as far as the activities, food and excursions, I don't think it will cost you that much. Drinks and dinner are normal priced. For an elaborate meal at a fancy place, it will cost you about $200 without a bottle of wine. Otherwise, dinner and drinks for 2 should be between $80-$100/night.
I defniately suggest you guys to go, it will be worth it!!

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
As far as the islands go, each one has it's own personality. My favorite is Maui because I feel like it combines the nightlife and the peacefulness of all the other islands, but they are all incredible and beautiful, so it's really a matter of what you're looking for. For peace and quite I'd go to Kauai, for non-stop city action, it's Oahu. Like I said, Maui combines the best of both worlds in my opinion.
Food is relatively inexpensive on Oahu (think NY prices). The other islands are definitely more expensive, but there are plenty of bargains to be had. The food at resorts is super expensive.
I would get a Fodors or Frommers - they have great recommendations for relatively inexpensive restaurants. There are plenty of places where it won't break the bank.

Thànk you ladies. If everything pans out with the timeshare it looks like I am going to have a great honeymoon.
Has anyone been during the winter months. Just wondering what the weather is like. I'll be going in Feb. Right after the wedding so I would really need to know what to pack.

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
We went in February for 2 weeks. It is very warm during the day, usually 80's or so everyday and you get a little chill at night. Enough for a light sweater or long sleve. But only if you are by the beach. I would pack mostly warm weather clothes with a few cover-ups for the evenings. I was there for 2 weeks and it wasn't cloudy at all.

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
I have been to hawaii 2xs
During the 2 trips I went to every island except one (molokai ie the lepper island Lol) It really depends what you are looking for in your experience. My fav island was Lanai. This is the most romantic place I have ever been to. There were only 3 hotels on the whole island but there might be a few more now(a beach resort, a mountain resort and one in the middle.)and there is nothing to do but enjoy the views and each others company. You could visit the other hotels for different activities or for a change of scenery. But you would have to see what time buses left each day cuz they only make a certain amount of trips each day to each hotel. Last time I went this was the island we visited last, so the relaxation and the pampering was exactly what was needed. Oahu is the place to do sightseeing (arizona memorial, diamond head, Hanauma Bay, and OMG the beaches) and experience the night life. Maui I was a little surprised with since all I had heard was how big on HMers it was and I felt like there was ALOT!! of kids around. Here we did a lot of hiking (road to hana...bring old sneakers...I lost a brand new pair of nikes to a mud whole!!!) HATED THE BIG ISLAND! It looked like a desolate waste land...all the dried lava around looked like a bomb went off. There was just nothing special about this island that you couldnt experience on anyone of the other islands. Kauai was also very nice. Did more relaxing here and driving down the coast. If you want to relax but still be capable to drive and see other people this is very similar to Lanai but with more people
this is all I can think of at the moment but if you have any questions feel free to fm me!

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
from what i have heard, Maui is the best (this was based on other brides experience who i talked to that honeymooned there). Oahu is apparently more 'city like' and Kauai is more deserted. Again, i cant speak from personal experience. I'm sure all islands are beautiful though! enjoy!

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
hawaii is AMAZING....I went almost two years ago and I stil think about it all the time. I went to Oahu and kawaii....I went end of March...It was def summer weather...at night wasn't really too cold either..I dont think I wore anything but skirts and dresses...never wore pants or anything with sleeves
As far as being pricey....I didn't feel it was much different from eating out in LI
If you have the opportunity to go...you have to It is so beautiful you dont think it's real
I traveled all around both islands..if you have any questions messge me

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
Hi-- I lived there for 6 months. I stayed on Oahu and then traveled over to Kaui and Maui. Oahu is more site seeing. My favorite was maui by far!! More relaxing. But all the islands are beautiful-- just depends if you want site seeing or more of a relaxing environment.

Re: Who has been to HAWAII!?!
Maui is amazing. There are so many things to do...so many different day trips etc. I dont think it was insanely expensive...but not cheap either. A nice dinner with a few drinks will run you about $200...and that's pretty similar to LI. FH and I drank atevery meal...so bills were high...but the entree prices werent too crazy. It's def worth the money!
