I've never heard of good friday as a company holiday, yet FH's mom is off...

Most financial management companies are off on Friday. Some weird supistion the stock market has that it has to be closed on Good Friday.
Other companies like American Express, Visa, malls, real estates, etc....they will all be open.
edited to add: I am out of work so I am off everyday

Like Chippa said - a lot of financial companies are closed on Good Friday because once many years ago the market crashed on a Good Friday so the market is closed that day.
I am off but only because it's Passover as well - so I get out a bit early today and then I have a nice long weekend

I am not off, but took the day as a vacation day anyway since I will be going with my best friend to her first dress fitting for her June wedding!

This is the first time I've ever worked on Good Friday. I was at one firm that was so small it had to close for Good Friday b/c there would be no staff in the office if they didn't, but here, no such luck.
