I'm trying to figure out all the costs involved with the wedding. Who, other than the hall, gets paid upfront? Do you pay the DJ, photographer, florist, etc. when you book them, or do you pay the day of the wedding, or some other time? Thanks!

Everyone of my vendors with the exception of the photographer wants the money before the wedding.

We'd paid all our vendors in advance before our wedding date with the exception of our photographer and videographer. We'd just left deposits for both photo and video and the balance when we picked-up the proofs and submitted our honeymoon pictures, baby/growing up, dating and wedding invitation to the videographer.

Deposits have to be made in order to book. Then some vendors take the balance before the wedding, in our case the reception, the florist and our photographer 10 days before. Our band and limos get their balances, in cash, the day of.

Reception - paymkents about every 3-4 months and the grand total the week before; Photpgraher: a deposit when we booked, 1/2 before and 1/2 when I order the album, DJ: Deposit when we booked and the rest is due the day of the wedding Florist: Deposit when we booked and the rest is due the week of the wedding WOW - that's scary!

Our photo had to leave a deposit, then the day of the wedding (or a week or so before) we have to give them 70% of the balance and then when we get our final video we give them the remaining balance.
Thats the only vendor I have so far besides the hall

Every vendor that we have booked has a deposit from us. There is a payment plan set up for photography but we besides the payment plan, we are sending money as we want. The limos and the DJ, we are paying off so that the day of the wedding we do not have to worry about them. The videographer gets 1/2 of the balance a month before the wedding and the rest later on.
