Who hosts the baby shower?

Who hosts the baby shower?

Help...My sister is pregnant and deserves a wonderful baby shower! I was wondering if there is one particular person who is usually responsible for hosting the shower (mother, sister, etc.). I would love to host it, but I don't want to interfere if my stepmother or my sister's mother-in-law wanted to host it.
By the way, thought I'd share a pic of her 2nd sonogram. Can you see the baby giving a thumbs up?!!!!

Thats adorable! I don't think there is a 'set' rule on who gives the shower. I know my Mom gave me my first baby shower. Where as for my girlfriend, a bunch of us got together and did it.
I would call the moms and see what they are thinking.

I agree with brideinapril, there are no set rules. My mom gave me my shower. For my BF, her MIL and I gave her a shower. I would suggest talking to your step mom and see if she is planning on giving it, or if you could do it together.

BTW - I love the thumbs up, it is so cute!

I don't think there is a set rule either but in most cases it seems to be the mom and/or sister(s) who organize the shower.

I hosted my SIL's shower (we are very close and she has no sisters, only brothers). My MIL gave input as to what ideas she had for her daughter' s shower and I just ran woth it, it was so much fun!

Technically speaking a mother/stepmother should not host a shower for a daughter...but very often they do. (both my mom and stepmother hosted my bridal and baby shower)....of course you can offer to host the shower. The stepmother and MIL can offer to help with some of the costs or certain items such as favors or the cake.
