I'm thinking of booking myself directly through the hotel website, supposedly the Hyatt upgrades you if you book complete packages through them. I've also found cheaper deals on American Express.com if you use your card they give you deals.

I think its is perfectly fine to do it yourself! I just used a TA for my cruise b/c it came in at a lower price and TA's will offer perks that the cruiseline just wont give you... and even for this, I went with an online company... The flights I booked myself (orbitz or use my trusty sidestep.com that i love so much) and the hotel I researched on tripadvisor and booked directly through the site! Piece of cake if you have the time to do the research!

I went to liberty travel but they didnt really have any competitive prices. She basically called the cruise company in front of us and thats what we did before we got there, so it was a waste of time. I booked it through our travel agent that we use for work travel, who is in LI. If anyone wants to try them, the owner is beyond great. Mike from M&M travel, they have a website too

I must say travel tom didnt really give me any deals either. You are better off booking yourself. Most time travel websites get competitive and its easier to get a discount through them

I used Monique from Great Escapes by Marique - she's a vendor on this site. She really went the extra mile for us and she got us a great deal.

FH and I just went on a great cruise through Royal Caribbean and we used a travel agent - that's who we're using for the honeymoon.

Dana from Cruisen Around, Inc. in Hoboken - she's great and definitely works with your budget.
