are you giveing the winner your flowers? i just read someone giveing champaigne... what are your thoughts? waht songs are you guys using?

Yes giving my throw away bouquet and playing kenny rogers through the years. I think i may know who will be the ones in the family so I may find out what was their wedding song and play that if its them if not then through the yrs.

we used the throw away, but asked for nicer flowers because we knew DH grandparents would get them. We used Celine's Because You Loved Me

Something to be cautious of... Depending on the age of the couple, they might not be able to dance. The couple we think will 'win' is in their 80s.
We are trying to be considerate of them, by not having a dance. We will have the couples stand up at their tables and ask them to sit down, as the years announced progress...
ETA: We are giving the winners a bottle of wine in a nice wine box.

our couple too is in their late 80's but are still very healthy but youre right if they cant dance you can still do this , great idea!!

to me how i understood it is the last couple standing will represent how long you will last in years of marriage, its in place of the garter bouquet toss

We are doing the anniversary dance and I would've given them my bouquet but my mom insists we give away a throw a way bouquet....

Every couple gets on the dancefloor and the DJ goes through a list of timelines, 'For anyone whose been married less than four hours, please leave the dancefloor.' Then he works his way up through the years and the last couple remaining on the dancefloor gets a bouquet. Its such a moving experience because you see some very old couples who've made it through all the years. It always makes me cry!

I would do that but I think my parents would be the longest married. It might be a bit wierd since his family is mostly divorced
I will however mention it since I will be getting married on their anniversary!!

We did - it ended up being Dh's grandparents - which we were pretty sure it would be - we gave them the throw-away bouquet and garter. THe pics are so cute - DH's grandpa has the garter on his arm!
