Who is moving out of NY or planning to in the future?

Well Len and I decided to finally make the move to Florida!

We have been talking about it for over a year and decided this was the perfect time. We are moving down in mid-May and we just can't wait!

Anyone else moving out of NY?

What part are you moving to? We'll probably be moving to Port St. Lucie soon

We're moving not far from there in palm beach county.

I moved UP here from Stuart/Jensen Beach area. So much better than PSL, but more expensive. Port St Lucie is like a mini-Long Island, except the traffic is worse b/c the roads weren't built for it. Good luck! I can't wait to move back!!!

Congrats!

DH and I have spoken about moving out of state though not very far. I can teach anywhere but teaching wouldnt make me move. Id never make much more than what I make here. Ultimately, DH would need an incredible job offer to make it worth while. His earning potential with an MBA will always surpass mine. Right now, family obligations keep us here.

Ive lived out of state 3 years now-- and Im currently home on Long Island and I cant wait to get out of here!!

me and fi would like to move to cali but not sure if and when...

do either of you have any friends or family there??do you plan on having kids and raising them there too?

i would love to move out of ny, but i don't know if we ever would. all our family in the states is in ny/nj and once we start having kids i'd like to be near our parents/siblings.

we've spoken about moving to cali many times. but don't know where is best. ny is just soooo expensive. i do hope that one day we do get a chance to experience living outside of the nyc area.

Thanks!! Yes, my best friend moved there 2 years ago... she's been telling us how great it is for the last 2 yrs! Len has tons of family there... several cousins our age that we're very close to, his parents have a condo there (and house in NY) so they are there a lot, Len's brother is also down there with his fiance! My mom is planning to move down in the next year or 2.

Once we go down i'm sure we'll stay there for a while and raise our kids there. I couldn't see coming back to NY, but you never know.

WOW Jess....CONGRATS! That is huge news!!! Very exciting - Florida is awesome - you can't beat the weather.

I give you credit too - I would LOVE to move out of NY...to somewhere warmer. My dream would be LA or San Diego - DH has family in San Diego - you can't get more perfect weather in the US than San Diego. But I could never leave my family...we're so close and none of them are moving ever. I have 4 nephews (1 is only a few days old) who I adore...I would miss them too much. So I give anyone credit who can up and move like that - that is awesome!

I'm assuming you already have a house or condo or something since you have a move date already...give us the details. Did you buy or are you renting for now?

As for me - the farthest I may go is just CT which is close enough to home. DH works in CT and me in NYC - he is tired of his long reverse commute (we live in Manhattan) so we'll probably look at houses in CT when we are ready to move...maybe next year sometime.
