Who is paying/payed for your RD?

Who is paying/payed for your RD?

I have heard that it is traditionally paid for by the groom's parents, but what if they don't know that? My FH is an only child and we don't know if his parents are aware of this 'tradition.' They are also paying for the band as a gift, so we are not sure how to address this. Any advice?

my FH's parents are also paying for our band and RD. they knew about the tradition and graciously offered to throw it. i'm so grateful because we can't afford it.

maybe your FH can 'inform' your parents of the tradition without making it seem pushy. you should stay out of it though. let him do the talking.

Yes, that's what we were planning on doing. I won't say anything. I'll leave it up to him, but just not sure what he should say.

DH's father paid for the RD. Since my parents paid for most of the wedding, DH spoke with his and asked him to pay for the RD and band.

We're paying, but probably with a little more help from my mother. FI parents are on a fixed income.

We paid for everything related to our wedding, including the RD. But yes, traditionally it is the groom's parents. Although these days nothing is a hard and fast rule anymore.

FH's parents are paying for it, and they also offered to pay for either the florist or limos.

We're paying for it. FMIL is a widow on fixed income.

Can you just ask?

That's how we did it. Whether or not they knew the tradition, we needed the help. I explained that with my parents paying for the wedding, it would be great if they could pay for the RD. Then they said yes (thank god) and set the budget.
