My matron of honor told my mom that it is up to the brides maids. I have been in several weddings and never had anyone ask me to give out any money. My matron of honor wants a list of all the girls in the bridal party so she can call them. I am worried that my friends may be upset about this. Please give me so imput on this situation!
Thanks so much!

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
Ettiquette says that the shower should be thrown by the bridesmaids, however, most of the time it's thrown by the MOB.

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
For both weddings that I have been in the BP for, I did help pay for the Shower...just my experience, not sure if it is 'expected'

I agree, although these days I see a lot of showers paid half by MOB and half BM's. That usually works out pretty nicely.

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
Since my mother is deceased my MOH and FMIL are coordinating it. Because of that and the fact that I have no other bridal party it will probably be at FMIL's house. I wouldn't want her to go to the expense of restaurant and I know my MOH can't afford it she lives out of state with a young baby and her and her husband just get by.
MY Godmother (aunt) offered to help but she can be a pain in the @ss and weird in recent years. She had me in tears over something non-wedding related a couple of weeks. she offered to hold a luncheon for me and a 'few friends'. I said thanks but no. I know I'd regret it if I took her up on it.

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
These days everything is so expensive. Most girls that agree to be a part of the wedding know this before hand. So i think that everyone should chip in. Maybe the MOH should throw in extra money or buy the favors.

It varies, working in the industry, it seems most European families have the MOB pay. More 'Americanized' people ask the BP to chip in.....

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
As a bridesmaid, I have never paid for a shower-- and my mom and aunt are throwing mine.. as well as FMIL who wanted to get in on the action after the fact..

Most likely, my sister (MOH) and mother will be paying for it.

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
I had 3 BM plus a MOH when I got married. One of the BM did all the planning and shared the shower costs with my mom and my future mom-in-law ( she invited *a lot* of guests from her side). One of my BM *did not show* to my shower because she 'received the invitation in the mail only two days before the party' (the invites were mailed weeks earlier, no one else had the same complaint). Months later, when the no-show BM had her shower her MOH had the nerve to send me a bill for the expenses of the party. I ignored the bill and skiped her shower

Re: Who is responsible for paying for the shower?
i've been in 2 weddings, and then had my own... for the one wedding, there were 5 bridesmaids, and then the MOB wanted to chip in, so we split the cost of the shower 6 ways.... it worked out well, and i think my part ended up being about $175-$200... the second wedding i was in, a neighbor of the brides threw the shower- it was at the neighbors house, so it was very simple.... the neighbor insisted on doing most of it, since there were only 2 of us BMs that were in town..... we didn't split it up by cost, but by 'items'... like, i took care of favors and dessert, another girl took care of decorations and games... and then for my wedding, my mom asked for $75 from each BM, and then she paid the rest- again, my shower was at my aunts house and was really simple... especially with showers getting more and more elaborate and expensive, i don't think its wrong to ask the BMs to chip in towards it.....
