We plan on asking only the Bestman, my father and my fiance's father to wear tuxes. We are not having a traditional wedding party. I have a feeling that my FMIL will try to convince my fiance to ask my FBIL(he is not in the wedding party). I just want to be prepared...I will never be fully prepared for her outrageous requests. Are we correct in who we are asking?

Yep...unless you have grandfathers and might want them to wear tuxes too?

Re: who is supposed to wear tuxes?
For us it will be our Best Man, GM, our dads, my godfather (since he is walking my mom down the aisle) and my cousins (since they are walking my grandmother down the aisle and into the hall for introductions).

Besides the wedding party, our fathers and grandfathers will be wearing tuxes.
BTW, I think it's ridiculous that they charge the same amount for a tux for my FH as they do for our 2-year old Ring Bearer... I mean, how much fabric can it cost to cover a little kid?! But that's another thread, I suppose!

Re: who is supposed to wear tuxes?
Is the Father of the Groom expected to wear a tux for a day wedding? I'm thinking no one in FH's family knows this and are not preparing for it....

Re: who is supposed to wear tuxes?
FH, my father, his father and all the groomsmen, including our ringbearer... I would think that any other IMMEDIATE family not included in the BP should be in a tux, ex. bride brother, groom brother, and any grandfathers....

Rachel, there is no set rules when it comes to weddings. Everyone does things different so if you and your FI decide that you do not want the FOG in a tux then he does not have to be in one.

If your wedding is black tie, some men who are not even related to either of you may choose to pull out their penguin suits for the reception. But for the church, you decide.

Re: who is supposed to wear tuxes?
Our wedding is not black tie. We are having all the Groom, all of the GM, and both fathers wear tuxes. Thats it. Our ushers will wear black suits.

the Groom, wedding party, and fathers, grandfathers are optional(also may depend on if you have your grandparents walk down the isle)

Re: who is supposed to wear tuxes?
we're having FI, BP, both dads, my FMIL's BF and my grandfather in tuxes.
would it bother you a lot if your FBIL wanted to wear a tux??? since he's not in the BP he wouldn't be in that many photos.
my BIL (he was sisters FH at the time) did not wear a tux..he wore a suit...and still walked my mom down the aisle...DH did the same at my sisters wedding
