I thought it would be Voldemort, FH says Hagrid, but according to JK Rowling it is neither. Maybe it's a new character?
I am getting SOOOO impatient.
And do you think Sirius Black is really dead? I think J.K Rowling said that he really is dead...but that's awful. he's my favorite character!

I was actually thinking that Harry was the half blood prince (his mother's family wasn't wizard and we don't know much about his father's family) So, if both of his parents were only 1/2 wizard, then Harry would also be 1/2 wizard.
And, I do not think Sirius is dead...I bet the plot of this book will involve the 'rescue' of Sirius

Hopefully I can get the book in Mexico while I'm on my honeymoon. I think Sirius is alive, and That Dumbledore is the half-blood prince.

Yeah, I heard Harry is NOT the Half Blood prince. It also has something to do with the 2nd book.

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
I can't wait to read it! I hope Sirius isn't dead... Rowling kind of left it ambiguous, didn't she? They never saw his body? I should read the last two over again before I get the new one!

Maybe it's Draco Malfoy? That would be interesting, since he's always bragging about being a pureblood wizard.

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
Rowling said a MAJOR character would die. FH is 100% convinced it's Dumbledore, because then Harry would be truly tested w/o Dumbledore to protect him. I'm reading them all again. I'm ahlfway through book 2, snailing along because that's my LEAST favorite book!

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
OK.
You all need to go to www.jkrowling.com, www.the-leaky-cauldron.org, and www.mugglenet.com and do a little reading up.
JKR has NEVER said that a Major character would die in this book (although she's never said one wouldn't).
JKR has confirmed that the half-blood prince is Not Harry, Tom Riddle, Or Voldemort.
She *has* posted an excerpt from the book, which many believe to be a description of the HBP but she neither confirms nor denies that.
*Anything* you hear or read about the HBP is nothing more than speculation unless it has been confirmed by one of the three sites I mentioned. JKR publishes all content on her site, and the other two are fansites which JKR herself reads. In fact, she's invited the webmasters of those two sites to interview her at her castle in Edinburgh next weekend.
eta: Sirius *is* dead. JKR has said so. She has hinted that he might make a return apprearance (don't forget about that mirror that Harry had, she's being coy about questions regarding that), but He is Dead Dead Dead Gone. This is very important, because JKR wants to get across the idea of the finality of death. James and Lily Potter are Not Coming Back. However, they were able to communicate to Harry during Priori Incantatem in GoF. So who knows how we'll see Sirius (and maybe James and Lily) again.

What did Mugglenet say about what?
ETA: Here is a compendium of everything that is accurate about Book 6.

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
The death thing was in a newspaper claiming to be quoting mugglenet, but then I checked mugglenet again and it wasn't there...also i don't think mugglenet says it's not hagrid

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
Mugglenet won't say who it is or isn't because they don't know. Same with Leaky. JKR isn't telling and rightfully so.
Do you really want to know who dies beforehand? I knew about Sirius before I finished OoTP and that took away some of the fun of reading it.
There are bets on the internet as to who will die in this book. The speculations have been all over the place. Everytime Leaky reports on this they state very clearly that Jo isn't saying *anything*.
So all we can do is wait for Friday at Midnight. And then stay up all night reading. I'm getting a good night's sleep on Thursday!

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
I'm just speculating for fun!
I knew about Sirius also, without wanting to. I know that JKR isn't going to give any real major clues. I mean it doesn't help us to know the HBP isn't harry, voldemort or Tom Riddle. It still leaves it wide open. There's no confirmed rumor that doesn't leave it all wide open.
I find it impossible to really predict what is going to happen because there is so little about the situation that we know. I think we're going to find out a LOT more in Book 6, especially about Lily&James and Snape, which has actually been confirmed by JKR< but it still doesn't tell us anything!
I just think it's fun to speculate because I'm sure my guesses will be way off. Like, I think Harry should become an Auror, but that's too obvious!

Re: WHO IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE?
He died near the end of Book 5, but he fell through a veil, and so there was no body, and so it seemed ambiguous and I had lot of hopes that hes still alive, but JKR says No, he is absolutely dead
