No, you certainly don't have to...I'm only wearing a mantilla/cathedral veil. Partly b/c I don't really care for veils and mostly b/c it's an old (outdated) tradition that I'm not very fond of:
Bridal Veil: They were first used so that the groom couldn't back out of a marriage during the time when arranged marriages were common. (The blusher part of the veil wasn't lifted until after the vows.) The veil has symbolized privacy, modesty, youth and maidenhood. For these reasons, second-time brides usually, but not always, skip the veil.

well, if it stands for modesty and youth - i'm all for it!! I was planning on wearing a two-tier veil and having one teir over my face when i walk down the aisle....i like the mystery it creates!!! then i'll lift it back and it will be behind me for the rest of the day. i'm planning on wearing my veil throughout the reception also!!!

Wasn't going to. It always looked weird to me, like 'ghost bride' or something! But FI seemed disappointed when I told him I wasn't, so I'm reconsidering.

You don't have to, but I am ....I am wearing it over my face until the 'you may kiss each other..' cue & then FH will lift it.

I didnt want to wear my blusher at all, but when I went for my trial and they put it on I was like ok yea I can do this

My MIL made my veil. I had her attach the blusher to a bobby pin and my father lifted in off my face and then removed it. So I didn't have two layers during the ceremony.

I wore mine over my face walking down the isle, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

it is looks good either way.. whatever you feel comfortable with. Some like the idea of traidtion, some don't. either way you will look gorgeous :)

Its whatever you are comfortable with. I feel silly....but then again Im a first time bride at 42. Im wearing the veil. Its a two tier, but not using the blusher. I'm also wearing a tiara for the front and taking the whole thing off for the reception......It will get in the way of the dancing!!! kind of like this picture
