I'm considering going with Stan Weist or Mystic Music because they are willing to have a band play for half (before dinner) and then a DJ after dinner. I wanted to get the best of both!

We went with Ken James Orchestras- Ken James himself. They are ridiculously expensive- 10k, but

1. they are a 10 piece band that takes no breaks, plays at the cocktail hour, ceremony, and reception..
2. They played at FI's friends wedding last year- and I have been to about 7 weddings with bands on my own..... That wedding had the best music!!! Everyone was up the whole time, singing and dancing...
3. He is good at judging the guests early on and can play to adapt to their needs. He is a consultant for a good party and will be the best assistant on that day...
4. He listened and took crazy notes when we went in... and he will learn to play songs we want played if he doesn't know them...
5. Listened to the CD and saw video of them- MUSIC is outstanding!!!

Stacey: I think Ive heard the all. My favorite is the one where they use Ms Cleo (the 'psychic')...those are just hilarious!

Oh and to answer the question:
I used Timepiece by Franklyn Wayne. We saw many bands and liked this one the best. They didnt take any full breaks (someone is always on stage), they had several strong lead vocals and a very full sound.

We are using ERA2000 because:

1. Two of the musicians are friends of my FFIL.
2. They gave us a great price
3. I love the way the sound. The keyboardist sounds like Billy Joel who I love
4. Since they are family friends I don't have to worry about anything

Just for the record, before I chose this band my FH and I went to see a lot of other bands like Faze 4, Times Square Orch. Code Bleu, etc..

I am going with the Gerard Carelli orchestra. My Mom & Stepdad are Jazz musicians in NYC so I pretty much know a lot of the musicians 'out there'. We are having a 12 piece orchestra with the guys I've grown up in jazz clubs listening too! The best part is that my Stepdad is re-orchestrating my first dance for me- I will have my own, original chart! I know, I'm spoiled when it comes to the music...

We chose them because:
1. We were recommended to them by various different people. 2. MY FH and I saw them perform at a wedding where we are getting married and they were amazing!!!. My FH loves music (classical, jazz, etc) he writes plays different instruments too so he knows how bands should sound and the acoustics in the room with the band were phenominal.
4. The price was ok.( well worth it) 5. They did a great hora( jewish dance at the wedding this was very important to me) 4. The lead singer was great!!!! 5. Every vendor that we have gone to, asked who our band was and all we have heard is RAVE reviews!!!

MIDNIGHT MAGIC ORCHESTRA. We were offered a fab price for what we are getting. Everyone sings. The video was amazing. ( We were not going to book a band from a CD) We have seen the band live as invited guests to friends' weddings and the video does not do them justice!! After looking at 15 bands, the best we have seen.

We are using Stan Wiest. When we went in to meet with him, we really clicked with him. I love the fact that he acts as a coordinator on your day, does not do any line/organized dance type thinsg (chicken dance for example), will only take requests for out of the ordinary type things from the B and G and liked the price!

We went with Hank Lane Music just because they have a great reputation and I have seen them play at 2 of my friends weddings.

We are using Sweetwater. Teh Band Leader is a friedn of the family and they are awesome. They can play anything you want.

We are using Hank Lane Music as well. The Arthur Stuart Band. I have heard them play berfore and they are great. I have also been talking with him a lot because it is crunch time for us and he is so easy to work with and makes me feel very relaxed. Hank Lane has a great reputation, they play continous live music. We are having a band member play the piano during the cocktail hour. They are also learning songs that we have requested. We just really feel comfortable with them!

Milestone Music was my band.
Why? Because the minute I spoke with Dotty (the band leader) I knew that she cared about my wedding and me. We spoke for a while and she sent me a video. I put the video in my player and WOW. I was totally floored. Dotty was great during my entire planning process. She and her band recorded my first dance song onto a CD so that we could take dance lessons. they learned 8 songs for us. I am super, super happy with the way the band played at my wedding.

We are using Rhapsody, a Skyline Orchestra band:

We LOVED their presentation!
There was just something about them, that made them seem so classy.

We have the keyboardist during the cocktail hour.

I'm not up to the nitty gritty yet, but in the beginning, they were soooo great to work with. Always available for my questions and ALWAYS called me back!! They gained my confidence that way!!



Honestly, I did not go beyond Skyline Orchestras. I have only heard 3 of their bands (excluding Code Bleu) and we just loved them!

Ours is The Funkestra because:

1. They are a standard 9 piece band with a 3 piece horn section and they blow you away with their sound.
2. They have 2 singers that are standard with the band that are phenomenal, and all of the replacement singers (who are used only in case of illness of one of the main singers) are just as good, so no fear of crappy replacements at the last minute!
3. They are classy. No cheesey MC'ing, only MC when necessary. Just good music, can play anything and everything very well. Can fill a big room with great sound, and know how to start a party.
4. The price. Absolutely unbeatable at under 5 G's for continuous live music all night (180 minutes contracted full band playing time, breaks are 2 people playing at all times equalling 60 minutes, and a cocktail hour duo).
5. Their showcasing wasn't 'showcasing'. They play bars and restaurants on Friday nights if they don't have a wedding, so you get the full effect of what they will sound like on the day of your wedding in front of a crowd, and how the crown reacts to them and their playlists.
