Sigh, I've only been engaged 2 months and my mother is turning into a momzilla. I wanted to get a room at a hotel for the night before my wedding by the RH so I can spend it with my bridemaids, then next day have someone come and do hair, makeup and get ready. Mom was all like nooooo you have to get ready at home. Almost cried. Now its my dress. She wants me to have a dress specially made but I want to go dress shopping and do the whole trying dresses on thing. Everyone was worried about me being bridezilla. Luckily she hasn't pulled the I'm paying for the dress so you'll do what I want thing. Who else here had momzilla's??

Woah!!!!! Is your mother paying for your wedding?
You can always just go dress shopping with friends!! You will still enjoy the experience. I'm sorry your mom is reacting like that. Maybe she will calm down. If not tell her nicely that it is your wedding, not hers.

Nope paying for my own wedding, but she is paying for the dress and decorations. So far I've won on the hotel. You basically have to be a trial defense lawyer to win an argument with my mother. The dress thing has died down after about 15 times of me saying that's not what I want, but I have the odd feeling this dress debate will resurface. I know I could always go dress shopping with friends but I want my mom and my FMIL to be there. I just know I'll be trying on dress and I will hear at least once, 'see we could have one one custom made, but nooo you want to be stubborn.' It's going to be FUN!

Re: Who needs a Bridezilla
Sorry you are having a hard time with your mom. My mom has tried to act like a momzilla a few times, and I kindly remind her that it is my wedding and my fh and I are the ones paying for it, so we while we are willing to listen to her advice, she should not be disappointed if we ultimately end up doing what we want to do, cause it is our wedding.
