Recently been discussing hair and make up with one of my bridemaids.
I was honest enough to say i was unsure who pays for the hair and makeup. She said the last wedding she was in that the BM paid for hair.
Is it ok for BM's to contribute towards these cost?

I was in two weddings where I had to pay for my own hair and makeup. Right now, I'm planning on letting my girls do the same so they can go to whoever they like.

I plan on paying for at LEAST either their hair or makeup. I don't know if I can really afford both for them. I'm just realizing how much of an expense it is to be in a wedding and don't want to burden them too much.

Everytime I've been a bridesmaid I've paid for my own hair and makeup. When I was my sister in laws maid of honor I even paid for her hair and makeup.
I've always had to pay for my own hair and make up. I plan on paying for one or the other for my BMs (their choice) and they can do whatever with the other.

I've asked my family members who have been in bridal parties and they all said it's a BM expense. Party of the commitment I guess! I will probably only request that my bridal party get their hair done professionally so it matches but not their makeup.

I paid for my own hair & makeup. If I can swing it I'd like to pay for either hair or make up but not sure if i'll be able to.

Thanks everyone. I will take this into account when looking at make up services. In terms of hair styles, I haven't thought about it much. Each of my BM have different hair textures and length. I will probably let each show me 2-3 hairstyles and choose one I like and will go with the others.

being a BM myself ive paid for my own hair and makeup - I might for my own wedding pay for my BM hair but i also want to get them their DOJ ..i have to see how much everything will cost!

I've always paid for my own, but I may consider paying for my MOHs as well. She's married to my brother, and they live on a military salary. I'm already paying for her gown, and they're traveling with 5 kids. I feel bad that it's such a huge imposition, so if I can help out with her, I will. The other ones can pay for themselves. Honestly? They can do what they want. If they can do their own hair and makeup, then I'm all for it too. I'm not that picky.

I was wondering about this too! How does it work if I'll be getting ready in a hotel? Would I tell the BM to meet me there already ready?

If you don't pay for their hair and makeup then you have to be ok with the fact that they might want to just do it themselves to avoid the cost.
My sister gave us money towards our hair and makeup, but other than that, I had to pay myself! One bride didn't even get a hair/makeup person for all of us, we were REALLY on our own!

I am going to pay for them... a friend i went to high school with will be doing the hair and make up so she is giving me a good price! :)
