I have always seen the kids parents pay for it.

I ended up paying for the flower girl dresses. I went to the store found the dress I liked and took down the style number from US Angels and then bought them online. I paid $88 for each dress while the store was selling them for $160.

I told my friend and FBIL that we would love for their girls to be flower girls but we can not afford their dresses. What we did is say pick out a white dress any kind. FBIL got the dress at Berlingtons for $30.00. There is a pic in my album. My friend her daughter was in a wedding last year so when they altered it they didnt cut so they can let it out for her this year. You dont have to offer to pay. You can as their gift but I am getting them lockets instead!

Usually the parents of the kids would pay, but I actually am buying the dresses for my nieces because it was my Christmas gift to them. Both my bro and sis-in-law are in the wedding and have to pay for a dress and tux, so I wanted to help them out by getting the dresses for the girls.

hmmm so does this mean I should be offering to purchase them?

The parents of the kids paid for the dresses. I dont think you should pay, unless that is your gift to them.

normally their parents would buy the outfits - my mom is buying the fg dresses for my neices they are 4 and 7(well, she'll be 7 the day after the wedding)

i got them all their dresses - i have 5 fgs

i think it is perfectly fine to let them know that they need to cover the costs of the attire - maybe look around for a not so expensive dress and suggest it to them when u ask them to be part of ur bridal party

goodluck!

I (really my mom) paid for them. 2 of the FG's are my nieces (my mom's grandchildren), and the other FG is FH's niece.

We got a great deal at Burlington.. they were around $35 each, and are really cute. Although my mom did have to go to 4 diff Burlingtons to find the same dress in 3 diff sizes.

My sisters did not ask me to pay they are taking care of it on their own. but etiquette wise...I am supposed to offer?

I paid for my niece's dress...I think the fg parents should pay for it, but in my case my niece's mother was not doing good financialy so I payed for it.

We offered to pay for the dress. My FG is my FH's niece and his brother and wife live in Florida. They're a family of 4 so they already have the travel expense for the wedding so I don't want to burden them anymore than that.

Its a choice to pay for them- you dont have to- there is no etiquette rule that I have heard of.

I'm going to pay for my FG's dress - only because they are from OOT, and trying to buy a house - financially, it makes more sense for us to buy it for her.

But I don't think you have to offer.
