I know the general rules, like if someone is invited to the shower, then they should also be invited to the wedding. But is every woman on the wedding guest list invited to the shower?
I have some co-workers that I'm friendly with (and who are invited to the wedding), but do I invite them to the shower as well? Or is it only for very close friends? Part of the problem is that many of my close friends live way out of state (California) and will most likely not be able to make the trip.
Also, there are some people on the list--from work and law school--who invited me to their wedding but not their shower. Does that mean I shouldn't invite them to mine?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm just very confused--if you couldn't tell!

I really think it depends. I have the same situation with work people, and I'm just not feeling like doing the whole 'Grandma, this is my supervisor Cathy, we work together!' thing on the day of my shower.
I am inviting family that lives in town, and my close friends. I'm not inviting his guy friends wives/girlfriends. That would just be strange. They are sweet when we all hang out, but out of context?
To me - I want the shower to be filled with people I have a personal relationship to (Plus, with my sisters, I know I'll be opening some raunchy lingerie!)

I think I am probably going to invite most of the women who are invited to the wedding. BUt I am only inviting close friends to the wedding (both his and mine) and no coworkers (I live in NC so that wouldn't really work!!!)

I did not know what to do, since my BM's were throwing the shower, I did not want to go overboard..worked out well though because my office threw me a shower anyway, so just family at shower

For my shower, they invited family, best friends and those that lived locally.
